Using within-person change in three large panel studies to estimate personality age trajectories
J Pers Soc Psychol. 2023 Sep 11. doi: 10.1037/pspp0000482. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHow does personality change when people get older? Numerous studies have investigated this question, overall supporting the idea of so-called personality maturation. However, heterogeneous findings have left open questions, such as whether maturation continues in old age and how large the effects are. We suggest that the heterogeneity is partly rooted in methodological issues. First, studies may have failed to recover age effects as they did not stringently separate within-person changes from confounding between-person differences. Sec...

Models of clinical supervision of relevance to remote area nursing & amp; primary health care: A scoping review

Playing it safe: The relationship between parent attitudes to risk and injury, and Children's adventurous play and physical activity
CONCLUSIONS: We found a divergence between the outcomes parents desire for their children through engagement with risk and the play activities they are comfortable with in practice. Parent attitudes to risk and injury are potentially modifiable factors that may increase children's affordances for adventurous play and physical activity. Parent education interventions that provide practical approaches to address injury concerns and support children's risk-taking in play outdoors are recommended.PMID:37696315 | DOI:10.1016/j.psychsport.2023.102536

Emerging health and social policy considerations for safe and quality end-of-life care in Australia - the evidence, gaps and challenges
Aust Health Rev. 2023 Sep 12. doi: 10.1071/AH23166. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRecognition of the importance of end-of-life care will enable improvements in the quality of care delivered to patients and their families. Australia is experiencing an increasing number of deaths, (many expected), with an aging population who are living longer, often with multimorbidity. This makes end of life care a priority. The last year of someone's life takes place in a complex healthcare system, with increasing pressures on care delivery, placing the spotlight on health service providers to ensure that teams and individuals are support...

External validation of the Health Care Homes hospital admission risk stratification tool in the Aboriginal Australian population of the Northern Territory
ConclusionThe HCH algorithm performed poorly on the NT cohort compared with the Victorian cohort, due to differences in population demographics and burden of disease. A population-specific hospitalisation risk algorithm is required for the NT.PMID:37696752 | DOI:10.1071/AH23017

Transition readiness and anxiety among adolescents with a chronic condition and their parents: A cross-sectional international study
CONCLUSION: Transition readiness should be determined by an assessment of knowledge, self-management and psychosocial skills instead of age alone. Further research should address how well transition readiness predicts positive health outcomes after the transfer of care.IMPLICATIONS FOR PATIENT CARE: Transition readiness and self-management skills should be formally assessed because positive feedback may decrease the anxiety of both adolescents and their parents regarding the transfer of care.REPORTING METHOD: We have adhered to the STROBE statement, using STROBE checklist for cross-sectional studies.PATIENT OR PUBLIC INVOL...
