Synergistic effects of electroacupuncture and bone marrow stromal cells transplantation therapy in ischemic stroke
CONCLUSIONS: Our results show that the combination treatment significantly improved restoration of neurological deficits in the animal stroke model. However, further studies are required to see if EA could promote the rapid differentiation of BMSC into neural stem cells in the short term.PMID:37140285 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202304_32106

Combined Application of Human Amniotic Membrane Mesenchymal Stem Cells and a Modified PGS-co-PCL Film in an Experimental Model of Myocardial Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury
Appl Biochem Biotechnol. 2023 Apr 3. doi: 10.1007/s12010-023-04446-5. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAccording to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 3.9 million people die annually of ischemic heart disease (IHD). Several clinical trials have shown that stem cell therapy is a promising therapeutic approach to IHD. Human amniotic membrane mesenchymal stem cells (hAMSCs) positively affect the repair of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (MI/R) injury by stimulating endogenous repair mechanisms. The differentiated hAMSCs with and without modified PGS-co-PCL film were applied in the myocardium. MI/R injury was induced by l...

The NG2-glia is a potential target to maintain the integrity of neurovascular unit after acute ischemic stroke
Neurobiol Dis. 2023 Mar 13:106076. doi: 10.1016/j.nbd.2023.106076. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe neurovascular unit (NVU) plays a critical role in health and disease. In the current review, we discuss the critical role of a class of neural/glial antigen 2 (NG2)-expressing glial cells (NG2-glia) in regulating NVU after acute ischemic stroke (AIS). We first introduce the role of NG2-glia in the formation of NVU during development as well as aging-induced damage to NVU and accompanying NG2-glia change. We then discuss the reciprocal interactions between NG2-glia and the other component cells of NVU, emphasizing the factor...

Evaluation of the effect of mesenchymal stem cells injection in the nucleus accumbens on the morphine reinstatement behavior in a conditioned place preference model in Wistar rat: expression changes of NMDA receptor subunits and NT-3
This study was designed to discover the effect of MSCs injection in the nucleus accumbens (NAc) on the reinstatement of behavior in morphine-induced conditioned place preference (CPP) in male rats. The CPP was induced via intra-peritoneal (i.p.) morphine injection (5mg/kg) for three consecutive days. After being tested for CPP induction, animals received MSCs or culture medium (DMEM F-12) in their NAc using stereotaxic surgery. Following extinction, a priming dose of morphine (2mg/kg) was administered to induce reinstatement. Expression of GluN1, GluN2A, and GluN2B subunits of the NMDA receptor and the NT-3 gene in the NAc...
