Propensity-score matched comparison between minimally invasive and conventional aortic valve replacement
CONCLUSIONS: We showed that mini-AVR was associated with less blood product requirement than conventional surgery. Our data supports wider adoption of minimally invasive techniques in dedicated centers of excellence.PMID:36325666 | PMC:PMC9648077 | DOI:10.3325/cmj.2022.63.423

On ‐ versus off‐pump CABG in octogenarians: A propensity‐matched analysis from the UK National Database
ConclusionThe data show similar in-hospital mortality in octogenarians regardless of the revascularization technique used. Off-pump when compared with on-pump CABG is associated with a lower incidence in postoperative neurological events but a higher need for renal dialysis.

Elephant trunk simplifies thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm repair without impacting operative risk
ConclusionsExtent I and II TAAA repair after ET can be safely performed in a tertiary referral center with shorter bypass and cross-clamp times. ET eliminates the need for circulatory arrest or clamping a hostile arch.

Proximalization of Frozen Elephant Trunk Procedure: Zone 0 or 1 versus Zone 2 or 3 Arch Repair
CONCLUSION: Compared with zone 2/3, proximalization of FET using zone 0/1 for anastomosis was associated with better early outcomes and comparable rates of midterm aorta-related events. To substantiate its use, more research on this approach is required.PMID:36216330 | DOI:10.1055/s-0042-1757631

Acute kidney injury and risk of cardiovascular outcomes: A nationwide cohort study
CONCLUSION: Non-selected patients aged 50 years or above with AKI during admission had significantly higher one-year risk of cardiovascular event or death, especially, but not only due to heart failure, independent of age and eGFR.PMID:36210122 | DOI:10.1016/j.nefroe.2022.06.003

Low Body Mass Index without Malnutrition Is an Independent Risk Factor for Major Cardiovascular Events in Patients with Hemodialysis
In conclusion, BMI < 18.5 without malnutrition may be an independent risk factor for MACE in patients with hemodialysis.PMID:36184553 | DOI:10.1536/ihj.22-333
