Addition of terlipressin to norepinephrine in septic shock and effect of renal perfusion: a pilot study

Mechanisms of Stroke in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease.
Abstract BACKGROUND: Given the increasing worldwide prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD), it is critical to decrease the associated risk of debilitating vascular complications, including stroke, congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, and peripheral vascular disease. MELAS Syndrome and Kidney Disease Without Fanconi Syndrome or Proteinuria: A Case Report
In conclusion, we describe an unusual case of MELAS syndrome with chronic kidney disease without apparent proteinuria or tubular disorders associated with Fanconi syndrome, but widespread interstitial fibrosis and a high degree of heteroplasmy of the MELAS specific mutation and low mitochondrial activity in the kidney.

Hypertension - human studies
Conclusions:Higher predialysis SBP variability is associated with stroke on HD populations suggesting a potential role for cerebral perfusion instability. We confirm known associations between age, diabetes, pre-existent cerebrovascular disease and hypertension. In contrast to studies in non-dialysis patients we do not find an association between EPO dose and stroke. Interventional trials of blood pressure management on stroke are recommended.
