Incidence and risk factors of cognitive dysfunction in hemodialysis patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The most important risk factors for cognitive dysfunction associated with hemodialysis might be female gender, old age, diabetes, and stroke. Close attention should be paid to such patients for early prevention.PMID:37592399 | DOI:10.1111/sdi.13171

Fixed-Dose Combination Therapy for Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases in CKD: An Individual Participant Data Meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: A fixed-dose combination treatment strategy is effective and safe at preventing cardiovascular disease, irrespective of eGFR but relative and absolute risk reductions are larger in individuals with low eGFR.PMID:37550842 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.0000000000000251

Polygenic genetic variation affecting antibody formation underlies hypertensive renal injury in the Stroke-Prone Spontaneously Hypertensive Rat
Am J Physiol Renal Physiol. 2023 Jul 13. doi: 10.1152/ajprenal.00058.2023. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMost SHR lines are resistant to hypertensive renal disease. However, the SHR-A3 line (stroke-prone SHR or SHRSP) experiences end organ injury (EOI) and provides a model that can be used to uncover genetic causation. In the present study we have generated a congenic line in which three distinct disease loci in SHR-A3 are concurrently replaced with the homologous loci from an injury-resistant SHR line (SHR-B2). Verification that all three loci were homozygously replaced in this triple congenic line (SHR-A3(Trip B2)) while...

Artificial Intelligence-Based Speech Analysis System for Medical Support
CONCLUSION: Patients with neurogenic bladder due to stroke experience long-term consequences, such as physical and cognitive impairments, even when they receive prompt medical attention and treatment. As chronic diseases become increasingly prevalent in our aging society, it is essential to investigate digital treatments for conditions like stroke that lead to significant sequelae. This artificial intelligence-based healthcare convergence medical device aims to provide patients with timely and safe medical care through mobile services, ultimately reducing national social costs.PMID:37401020 | DOI:10.5213/inj.2346136.068
