Young stroke patients are at high risk for subsequent end-stage renal disease: a population-based observational study
Conclusions Increased risk of ESRD in stroke patients is confirmed in Taiwan, and male patients between ages 25 and 44 years were at higher risk of ESRD compared with their counterparts in the general population. The clinical implication of our results is to closely monitor renal function in stroke patients, particularly those of younger age.

Survey and Risk Factors for Lower Urinary Tract Storage Symptoms in Middle‐Aged and Older Stroke Patients in Urban China
ConclusionsOur study identified not only putative risk factors for LUTS in middle‐aged and elderly stroke patients, but genuine factors including snoring, living environment and educational background that increased the odds of storage symptoms as well. We identified that regular exercise and living with their children were protective factors for storage symptoms in stroke patients.

Chronic kidney disease and the risk of stroke: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusions Stroke risk increases linearly and additively with declining GFR and increasing albuminuria. CKD staging may also be a useful clinical tool for identifying people who may benefit most from interventions to reduce cardiovascular risk.

Risk of stroke in first-ever acute urinary retention: A 10-year population-based study
Conclusion There was significant difference in the risk of stroke between patients with and without AUR. Preventive measures should be taken for patients with AUR, which may be associated with an increased risk of subsequent stroke. Large-scale population-based studies in other countries and regions are recommended.

Perioperative stroke and myocardial infarction in urologic surgery
CONCLUSIONS: Perioperative stroke and myocardial infarction were confirmed to be uncommon but devastating complications of urologic surgery, with incidence of 0.14% and 0.36%, respectively. Cystectomy was the highest risk urologic procedure. Perioperative stroke and myocardial infarction were strongly associated with age ≥ 70, hypertension, and disseminated cancer.PMID:34129461
