AbstractSince 2015, stroke has become the leading cause of death and disability in China, posing a significant threat to the health of its citizens as a major chronic non-communicable disease. Understanding Cognitive Impairment after Stroke: Stories from a Middle-Income Country
This study presents findings from a community of Malaysian-Chinese stroke survivors living in Malaysia on their understandings of cognitive deficits after stroke. The way stroke survivors thought about CI was also mediated by the cultural and social context that surrounded them. Of interest was the primacy of physical health over the cognitive which resulted in the invisibility of CI within this community, regardless of whether the deficits were mild or severe. Based on these findings, there is a need to rethink how cognitive decline should be observed in realistic community settings.

Establishment and effectiveness evaluation of a scoring system for exertional heat stroke by retrospective analysis
ConclusionA total of 12 parameters – T, GCS, pH, Lac, PLT, PT, Fib, TnI, AST, TBIL, Cr and gastrointestinal AGI classification – are the EHSS parameters with the best effectiveness in evaluating the prognosis of EHS patients. As EHSS score increases, the mortality rate of EHS patients gradually increases.

Association between dietary patterns and stroke in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in China: a propensity score-matched analysis
CONCLUSION: This study provides sufficient evidence to support the dietary intervention strategies to prevent stroke effectively. New study reveals 'startling' risk of stroke
(Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation) Globally, one in four people over age 25 is at risk for stroke during their lifetime, according to a new scientific study.Researchers found a nearly five-fold difference in lifetime stroke risk worldwide, with the highest risk in East Asia and Central and Eastern Europe, and lowest in sub-Saharan Africa. The lifetime stroke risk for 25-year-olds in 2016 ranged from 8 percent to 39 percent, depending on where they live; people in China have the highest risk.

Quality of life and cost consequence of delays in endovascular treatment for acute ischemic stroke in China
ConclusionsEarlier treatment of acute ischemic stroke patients with EVT in China increases lifetime QALYs and the economic value of care without any net increase in lifetime costs. Thus, healthcare policies should aim to improve efficiency of pre-hospital and in-hospital workflow processes to reduce the onset-to-puncture duration in China.
