ConclusionsThese findings may provide an opportunity for medical management of CSF disorders, potentially allowing for tuning of CSF secretion and absorption. Beyond hydrocephalus, stroke, trauma, this information has relevance for metabolite clearance and drug delivery, with potential to affect many patients with a variety of neurological disorders. This critical look at intercellular junctions in ependyma and the surrounding interstitial spaces is meant to inspire future research on a central and rather unknown component of the CSF-brain interface.

Echocardiographic correlates of MRI imaging markers of cerebral small-vessel disease in patients with atrial-fibrillation-related ischemic stroke
ConclusionIn patients with AF-related ischemic stroke, LVPW is associated with a higher risk of lacunes and CSVD burden, while RAD was associated with greater CSO-EPVS. Larger studies are required to determine these associations and to elucidate if these associations can help facilitate cognitive evaluation and brain MRI screening.

Effect of acupuncture combined with antidepressants on post-stroke depression: A network meta-analysis of nine acupuncture therapy
ConclusionA comparison of the efficacy indicators of the nine different acupuncture therapies combined showed that moxibustion plus antidepressants, conventional acupuncture plus antidepressants and acupressure plus antidepressants were superior in the treatment of PSD. Based on the shortcomings of the existing studies, this conclusion needs to be validated by additional high-quality randomized controlled trials.

Risk factors for intracerebral hemorrhage in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis
ConclusionHigher systolic BP and abnormal iPTH metabolism might be associated with ICH in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Comprehensive control of hypertension and iPTH may be a fundamental preventive strategy for ICH in these patients.

MCP extensors respond faster than flexors in individuals with severe-to-moderate stroke-caused impairment: Evidence of uncoupled neural pathways
In this study, a total of seven male participants with severe-to-moderate impairment by a hemiplegic stroke conducted flexion and extension at the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joints in response to auditory tones. We measured activation and de-activation delays of the flexor and extensor of the MCP joints on the paretic side, and force generation. Characteristics of stroke after liver and kidney transplantation
ConclusionsIn-hospital, perioperative, and hemorrhagic strokes were more common in the LT group than in the KT group. Ischemic stroke subtypes did not differ significantly between the two groups and undetermined etiology was the most common cause of ischemic stroke in both groups. High mortality after stroke was noted in transplantation patients and was associated with in-hospital stroke.
