Exploring the self-efficacy and self-care-based stroke care model for risk factor modification in mild-to-moderate stroke patients
Conclusion: SSE may boost self-care and self-efficacy, adjust risk factors, enhance functional outcomes, and decrease blood viscosity. Trial Registration: ISRCTN11495822.

Associations of plaque morphology and location with Intraplaque neovascularization in the carotid artery by contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging
Conclusion: The location and morphology of carotid plaques were significantly associated with the IPN grade on CEUS, and therefore show potential as biomarkers for plaque vulnerability. Serum HDL-C was also identified as a protective factor against IPN, and may play a role in the management of carotid atherosclerosis. Our study provided a potential strategy for identification of vulnerable carotid plaques and elucidated the important imaging predictors of stroke.

Effects of silent brain infarction on the hemorrhagic transformation and prognosis in patients with acute ischemic stroke after intravenous thrombolysis
ConclusionWe found that SBI was no effect for HT after thrombolysis in ischemic stroke patients, and no effect on favorable functional outcome at 3 months. Nevertheless, SBI remained an independent risk factor for non-excellent functional outcomes at 3 months.

Effects of transcutaneous neuromuscular electrical stimulation on post-stroke dysphagia: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionNMES combined with ST could effectively increase the forward and upward movement distance of the hyoid bone, improve the quality of life, reduce the rate of complications, and improve the swallowing function of patients with post-stroke dysphagia. However, its safety needs to be further confirmed.Systematic review registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO, identifier: CRD42022368416.

Stroke recurrence is associated with unfavorable intracranial venous outflow in patients with symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic large vessel severe stenosis or occlusion
ConclusionFor patients with sICAS-S/O of the anterior circulation, unfavorable intracranial venous outflow is a potential imaging indicator for predicting higher 1-year RCIE risk.

EMAGINE –Study protocol of a randomized controlled trial for determining the efficacy of a frequency tuned electromagnetic field treatment in facilitating recovery within the subacute phase following ischemic stroke
Stroke is a leading cause of disability with limited effective interventions that improve recovery in the subacute phase. This protocol aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a non-invasive, extremely low-frequency, low-intensity, frequency-tuned electromagnetic field treatment [Electromagnetic Network Targeting Field (ENTF) therapy] in reducing disability and promoting recovery in people with subacute ischemic stroke (IS) with moderate-severe disability and upper extremity (UE) motor impairment. Following a sample-size adaptive design with a single interim analysis, at least 150 and up to 344 participants will be rec...

Case report: Medulla oblongata and cervical cord reperfusion injury after intracranial vertebral artery angioplasty and stenting
ConclusionConcomitant reperfusion injury in the medulla oblongata and cervical cord secondary to vertebral artery angioplasty and stenting is extremely rare. However, this potentially devastating complication requires early recognition and prompt treatment. Maintaining the antegrade flow during vertebral artery endovascular treatment is a precaution against reperfusion injury.

Is aspiration an effective acute stroke treatment in older adults?
ConclusionSuccessful aspiration-based recanalization rate decreased with increasing age; however, these differences were not significant. Clinical outcomes did not significantly differ with regard to carotid tortuosity, regardless of the time of assessment. Neither intracranial nor extracranial tortuosity was significantly associated with reperfusion-related complications in either of the age subgroups.

Low-dose vs. standard-dose intravenous alteplase for acute ischemic stroke with unknown time of onset
ConclusionThe effectiveness of low-dose alteplase might be comparable to that of standard-dose alteplase in AIS patients aged <70 years with favorable perfusion-imaging profiles in the unknown or extended time window but not in those aged ≥70 years. Furthermore, low-dose alteplase did not significantly reduce the risk of sICH compared to standard-dose alteplase.
