O-040 Initial clinical experience with the bendit steerable articulating tip microcatheter for intracranial access and intervention
ConclusionsInitial clinical experience with the controlled articulation that permits flexion at the tip of the microcatheter demonstrated it to be safe. Access to difficult proximal origin curves, and distal clinoidal/ophthalmic segment anatomy may be improved due to the high torque transmission, and acute angulation of this microcatheter. Further experience with the delivery of therapeutic devices will be necessary to better understand the potential role that the present catheter may play in modern neurointerventional procedures.Abstract O-040 Table 1 Patient/Indication/Comorbidities/Treatment/Bendit 21 Role 60s F Cerebr...

E-261 Variability of response on prophylactic prasugrel for endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms: clinical implications
ConclusionIn the neurointerventional field, high BMI and prior use of antithrombotic agents were related to HTPR, and low BMI was associated with LTPR on prophylactic prasugrel. High hematocrit levels decreased the risk of HTPR. When preparing endovascular treatment for intracranial aneurysms, attention to patients with these clinical features is required to address the possibility of ischemic or bleeding complications.Abstract E-261 Table 1Risk factor analysis of high on-treatment platelet reactivity (HTPR) Variables Univariate Analysis Multivariate Analysis OR (95% CI) P OR (95% CI) P Age 1.02 (0.97-1.06) 0.53 Female o...

E-215 Single stent assisted coiling for wide neck bifurcation aneurysms: a multi-center core lab validated analysis demonstrating safety and efficacy
ConclusionThis study represents the first multi-center, core-lab validated data of the safety and efficacy of the L-stenting single stent technique for wide-neck bifurcation aneurysms. Further prospective studies in larger cohorts are necessary to compare the efficacy and safety of this treatment to other endovascular techniques for treatment of wide neck bifurcation aneurysms.Disclosures N. Hemodynamic Characteristics Associated With Paraclinoid Aneurysm Recurrence in Patients After Embolization
Conclusions: High peak systolic WSS, OSI and velocity around aneurysm neck areas after embolization of paraclinoidal aneurysms may be important factors leading to recurrence. Introduction Paraclinoid aneurysms are defined as aneurysms arising from the segment of the internal carotid artery (ICA) between the distal dural ring and the origin of the posterior communicating artery. They account for approximately 1.3–5% of all intracranial aneurysms and they comprise the majority of such aneurysms in females (1–3). Hemodynamic characteristics are thought to be the most important risk factors for occurrence...

Changing paradigm in the management of elderly patients with intracranial aneurysms: An institutional review
Publication date: Available online 7 June 2017 Source:Journal of Clinical Neuroscience Author(s): Oleg Y. Chernyshev, Shyamal C. Bir, Tanmoy K. Maiti, Devi Prasad Patra, Cesar Liendo, Hugo Cuellar, Alireza Minagar, Anil Nanda Optimal treatment of intracranial aneurysms (IAs) in elderly patients has not yet been well established. We have investigated the clinical and radiological outcomes and predictors of unfavorable outcome of IAs in elderly patients. Radiological and clinical data of 85 elderly patients from 2010 through 2015 were retrospectively reviewed. Significant differences between the groups were determined by a ...

Microembolism after endovascular coiling of unruptured cerebral aneurysms: incidence and risk factors.
CONCLUSIONS The incidence of microembolism after endovascular coiling of UIA was not low. Lesions occurred more frequently in patients with vascular status associated with old age, diabetes, and previous stroke. Aneurysm multiplicity and the type of stent used for treatment also influenced lesion occurrence. PMID: 26381257 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
