Eating chocolate may slightly lower your risk of stroke
ConclusionThis study used a large prospective cohort of English residents to estimate the risk chocolate poses to cardiovascular death and disease. In addition, they systematically combed the research literature for other similar studies, combining their results with that of other researchers. Transapical aortic valve implantation: mid-term outcome from the SOURCE registry ADULT CARDIAC
CONCLUSIONS
These results demonstrate that in elderly patients with severe co-morbidities, TA aortic valve implantation results in excellent mid-term results. Causes of death during the mid-term follow-up are mainly non-cardiac and related to co-morbidities.

The target-specific oral anticoagulants are a class of agents that inhibit factor Xa or thrombin. What is the best approach in a patient with a failed aortic bioprosthetic valve: transcatheter aortic valve replacement or redo aortic valve replacement?
A best evidence topic in cardiac surgery was written according to a structured protocol. The question addressed was whether transcatheter aortic valve-in-valve replacement (viv-TAVR) or redo aortic valve replacement (rAVR) is the best strategy in a patient with a degenerative bioprosthetic aortic valve. Altogether, 162 papers were found using the reported search, of which 12 represented the best evidence to answer the question. ConclusionsOur 3-year data demonstrate significant hemodynamic benefits and durable symptom relief after CoreValve prosthesis implantation. Renal outcomes in valve-in-valve transcatheter versus redo surgical aortic valve replacement: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Renoprotective strategies should be put into place to prevent and reduce AKI incidence regardless of the treatment modality. Patients undergoing re-intervention for the aortic valve constitute a high-risk and frail population in which ViV-TAVR demonstrated it might be a feasible option for carefully selected patients. Conclusions: In conclusion, self-assessment by the SF-36 survey is an effective instrument with which to evaluate disease-related life quality. For evaluation of TA-TAVI efficiency, QoL should be analysed in addition to clinical parameters. Due to considerably impaired QoL PCS and MCS scores, careful psychological supervision of TA-TAVI patients has to be considered in the pre- and postoperative course.
