Effects of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention and Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting on Clinical Outcomes in Patients with Reduced Ejection Fraction Heart Failure and Coronary Heart Disease: A Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The mortality rates of PCI and CABG were similar in patients with CHD complicated with HFrEF. Compared with PCI, CABG had a lower incidence of MACE, MI, HF, and revascularization, and a higher incidence of stroke or TIA.PMID:36856505 | DOI:10.1532/hsf.5169

Mastering the Learning Curve for Robotic-Assisted Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery
CONCLUSIONS: Robotic-assisted CABG can be performed safely with excellent results even during a surgeon's early experience. However, the learning curve to achieve mastery is longer than required to achieve competency with a threshold of approximately 250-500 cases.PMID:36848999 | DOI:10.1016/j.athoracsur.2023.02.045

Safety and Efficacy of Tirofiban Bridging Therapy During a Hybrid Carotid Artery Stenting and Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Surgery: A Single-Center Study
This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of tirofiban as a bridging therapy after a hybrid CAS + CABG surgery.METHODS: Between June 2018 and February 2022, a total of 45 patients undergoing a hybrid CAS + off-pump CABG surgery were divided into either the control group (standard dual antiplatelet therapy postsurgery, n = 27) or the tirofiban group (tirofiban bridging + dual antiplatelet therapy, n = 18). The 30-day outcome was compared between the 2 groups, and the primary end points included stroke, postoperative myocardial infarction, and death.FINDINGS: Two patients (7.41%) from the control group experienced a strok...

The Validation of Cardiac Index and Stroke-Volume Variation Measured by the Pulse-Wave Transit Time-Analysis Versus Conventional Pulse-Contour Analysis After Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting: Observational Study
To compare the reliability of cardiac index (CI) and stroke-volume variation (SVV) measured by the pulse-wave transit-time (PWTT) method using estimated continuous cardiac output (esCCO) technique with conventional pulse-contour analysis after off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB).

Benefit of Combination Ezetimibe/Simvastatin Among High-Risk Populations: Lessons from the IMPROVE-IT Trial
AbstractPurpose of ReviewThe Improved Reduction of Outcomes: Vytorin Efficacy International Trial (IMPROVE-IT) demonstrated the clinical benefit of the combination of ezetimibe-simvastatin compared to placebo-simvastatin following acute coronary syndrome (ACS). This review highlights key findings from this study with particular attention to the practice-changing impact on guidelines for low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) reduction after ACS, especially among high-risk populations.Recent FindingsConsistent reductions in LDL-C have been reported with newer lipid-lowering therapies (proprotein convertase subtilisin/k...

Early and midterm outcomes after off pump coronary artery bypass surgery
ConclusionOPCAB can safely be performed with satisfactory short and mid-term outcomes. Further corroborative studies from different regions of the country or a multi-center study will help to establish the suitability of the technique in Indian patients.

Same-Day Carotid Artery Stenting and Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery
CONCLUSION: The study showed that same-day carotid artery stenting and coronary artery bypass grafting for concomitant carotid and coronary disease treatment could be a promising and feasible therapeutic strategy.PMID:36735614 | DOI:10.14503/THIJ-21-7781

Use of CHA2DS2-VASc score to predict the risk of ischemic stroke and mortality in patients who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting surgery: a retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Ischemic stroke was associated with a higher mortality risk after CABG. Higher CHA2DS2-VASc scores were associated with higher ischemic stroke risk. POAF did not significantly affect the relationship between CHA2DS2-VASc scores and ischemic stroke. CHA2DS2-VASc score can be used to predict ischemic stroke and mortality following CABG.PMID:36734704 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202301_31062
