Early-Term Results of Rapid-Deployment Aortic Valve Replacement versus Standard Bioprosthesis Implantation Combined with Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting
CONCLUSION: RDAVR combined with coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) can be performed extremely safely. Cross-clamp and cardiopulmonary bypass times can be significantly reduced with rapid deployment aortic valve system in the scenario of combined CABG. Carotid Duplex Poorly Predicts Stroke Risk During Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement
Patients undergoing surgical aortic valve replacement, in isolation or with concomitant coronary artery bypass grafting, have historically been screened for carotid artery disease prior to surgery. Over the past decade, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has incrementally become the predominant technique for the treatment of severe aortic stenosis. The relationship between internal carotid artery stenosis (ICAS) and risk of periprocedural stroke in the TAVR population is uncertain. We sought to evaluate our institution's outcomes with the TAVR procedure and the association with preoperative carotid duplex scan (CDS) results.

Sutureless aortic valves in elderly patients with aortic stenosis and intermediate-risk profile
Conclusion The use of sutureless aortic valves in elderly patients with an intermediate-risk profile provided excellent early and mid-term outcomes, providing a reliable tool in patients undergoing surgical AVR in this specific subset of population. These preliminary data need to be investigated with a TAVI control-group in further studies.

Low vitamin D levels affect left ventricular wall thickness in severe aortic stenosis
Conclusion Among patients with severe degenerative aortic stenosis, vitamin D deficiency is common. We found a significant association between left ventricular wall thickness and vitamin D levels, suggesting a potential role of this hormone in modulating hypertrophic remodelling in these patients. However, future larger studies are certainly needed to confirm our findings and to define their prognostic implications.

Coronary revascularization during treatment of severe aortic stenosis: A meta ‐analysis of the complete percutaneous approach (PCI plus TAVR) versus the complete surgical approach (CABG plus SAVR)
ConclusionsWhen comparing the total percutaneous and total surgical treatment, no significant difference in short ‐term safety outcomes or early and late mortality was observed. More evidence is needed to guide the clinical decision.

Clinical features and outcomes of revascularization in very old patients with left main coronary artery disease
Conclusion In very old patients undergoing coronary revascularization owing to LMCA disease, PCI was associated with worse cardiovascular outcomes compared with CABG, influenced by a more severe and comorbid population selected for PCI. Baseline disability, presentation with STEMI, and distal LMCA bifurcation disease were additional independent outcome predictors.

Comparison of a Complete Percutaneous versus Surgical Approach to Aortic Valve Replacement and Revascularization in Patients at Intermediate Surgical Risk: Results from the Randomized SURTAVI Trial.
CONCLUSIONS: For patients at intermediate surgical risk with severe AS and non-complex CAD (SYNTAX score ≤ 22), a complete percutaneous approach of TAVR and PCI is a reasonable alternative to SAVR and CABG.
