The role of CHADS2 and CHA2 DS2 -VASc scores in the prediction of stroke in individuals without atrial fibrillation: a population-based study.
CONCLUSIONS: CHADS2 and CHA2 DS2 -VASc scores have a relatively high performance for stroke/TIA prediction in individuals without AF which is comparable to their performance in patients with AF. Prothrombotic factors do not increase the risk of recurrent ischemic events after cryptogenic stroke at young age: the FUTURE study
ConclusionsThe prevalence of prothrombotic factors and preceding infections did not significantly differ between stroke patients with a cryptogenic versus an identified cause of stroke and neither is significantly associated with an increased risk of recurrent ischemic events after cryptogenic stroke.

Clopidogrel and aspirin after ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack: an updated systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials
Conclusions: Among patients who presented with ischemic stroke/TIA, short-course clopidog rel plus aspirin immediately following the index event appears to be more effective than and as safe as monotherapy for secondary stroke prevention.

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation: Prevalence and Associated Stroke Risks in a Nationwide Cohort Study.
CONCLUSION:  Among all NVAF patients, 1.1% of patient has HCM. The risk of stroke in NVAF with HCM without any CHA2DS2-VASc stroke risk factors was similar to that of those patients without HCM with CHA2DS2-VASc score of 3. Recurrent stroke: the role of thrombophilia in a large international pediatric stroke population.
Abstract Risk factors for arterial ischaemic stroke in children include vasculopathy and prothrombotic risk factors but their relative importance to recurrent stroke is uncertain. Coagulopathy signature precedes and predicts severity of end-organ heat stroke pathology in a mouse model.
CONCLUSIONS: Heat stroke-induced coagulopathy may be a driving mechanistic force in heat stroke pathology, especially when exacerbated by prior infection. Evaluation of analytic and clinical performance of thrombin–antithrombin complex and d-dimer assay in prognosis of acute ischemic stroke
To evaluate analytic and clinical performance of plasma thrombin–antithrombin complex (TAT) and d-dimer assay in assessing the severity and outcome of acute ischemic stroke. The prospective study was conducted and extended from January 2018 to December 2018. A total of 236 patients admitted within 24 h after neurologic symptoms onset were recruited. The median TAT and d-dimer levels were significantly higher in the acute ischemic stroke patients than in the controls. Hyperglycemia exacerbates ischemic stroke outcome independent of platelet glucose uptake.
CONCLUSION: Hyperglycemia aggravates ischemic stroke outcome independent of platelet glucose uptake. Furthermore, we demonstrated that hyperglycemia primes procoagulant platelet formation.
