Prevalence of atrial fibrillation and reasons for undertreatment with oral anticoagulants
ConclusionsIn the population of V ästernorrland County, a very high AF prevalence of 4.7% was found, of which just over 90% would theoretically benefit from OAC treatment. This is higher than previously reported and stresses the importance of stroke prevention in this large patient group.

Tranexamic acid in a mouse model of cerebral amyloid angiopathy: setting the stage for a novel stroke treatment approach
CONCLUSION: Long-term TXA treatment does not alter brain Aβ levels or impact neurologic behavior in mice predisposed to amyloid deposition and had minor effects on the levels of inflammatory mediators. This finding supports the safety of TXA and lays the foundation for TXA as a novel treatment to reduce sICH in patients with CAA.PMID:37694270 | PMC:PMC10483050 | DOI:10.1016/j.rpth.2023.102166

Lipoprotein(a) and risk of cognitive impairment in Black and White Americans: the Reasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke cohort
CONCLUSION: Higher Lp(a) was associated with increased risk of cognitive impairment in Black but not White individuals. Future studies should evaluate the biological and social mechanisms through which race and Lp(a) interact to increase risk of cognitive impairment.PMID:37694266 | PMC:PMC10491800 | DOI:10.1016/j.rpth.2023.102170

Performance evaluation of two different software programs for automated ASPECTS scoring in patients with suspected stroke
CONCLUSION: Both software products have the potential to be decision support tools for radiologists. There are, however, differences between the two software products in terms of their intended use.PMID:37638425 | DOI:10.3233/CH-238105
