Acupuncture for gait disturbance of patients with subacute and chronic stroke: a systematic review and meta-analysis protocol
Introduction Hemiparetic gait is one of the most common sequelae of a stroke. Acupuncture has shown potential in correcting hemiplegic gait patterns and improving motor function recovery after stroke. However, controversial findings and a lack of supportive evidence on the effectiveness of acupuncture for post-stroke hemiplegia. The intelligent gait analysis system provides a new perspective for the study of hemiparetic gait. This systematic review aims to collect relevant studies and critically evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture in alleviating gait disturbance of post-stroke hemiplegia based on quantified gai...

Septic Shock From Pan-Spinal Epidural Abscess Attributed to Recent Acupuncture and Trigger Point Injections for Acute Lower Back Pain in a Previously Undiagnosed Diabetic Patient: A Case Report
We report the case of a 60-year-old woman with undiagnosed diabetes mellitus who presented to the hospital with a complaint of progressive altered mental status for the past two days. Eight days prior to presentation, the patient tripped over a pillow at home and developed mildly nagging, acute lower back pain. Upon the recommendation of her friends, she underwent two sessions of acupuncture around the lumbar area on days six and five prior to being brought to the hospital. She also saw her primary care physician on day three prior to presentation, who performed a history and physical examination and, after feeling that sh...

Effects of horse-riding squat exercise plus Governor Vessel-regulating Tuina therapy on static balance function in patients with stroke
ConclusionHorse-riding squat exercise plus Governor Vessel-regulating Tuina therapy can effectively improve the static balance function in patients with stroke. Training the affected lower limb weight-bearing exercise, adjusting the center of gravity distribution, and promoting the mutual balance and coordination between muscle groups may be the mechanism of improving the static balance function.

Scalp acupuncture regulates functional connectivity of cerebral hemispheres in patients with hemiplegia after stroke
ConclusionThe changes in functional connectivity between the cerebral cortex and basal ganglia in patients with cerebral infarction showed a weakening of the bilateral hemispheres and the enhancement of the connections between the hemispheres. Scalp acupuncture has the function of bidirectional regulation, which makes the unbalanced abnormal brain function state restore balance.

Clinical Effect of Shibing Xingnao Granules on Vascular Dementia Patients and Its Effect on Serum Neuronal Apoptosis Molecules
Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand). 2023 Feb 28;69(2):144-149. doi: 10.14715/cmb/2023.69.2.24.ABSTRACTIt was intended to study the clinical effect of Shibing Xingnao Granules on patients with vascular dementia (VD) and to explore its effect on serum neuronal apoptosis molecule levels in VD patients. For this purpose, 78 VD patients, as research objects, were grouped into a control group (acupuncture therapy) and an observation group (acupuncture therapy + Shibing Xingnao Granules) using the random number table method, with 39 cases per group. The clinical effect, cognitive function, neurological function, activity of daily liv...
