Dihydromyricetin alleviates cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury by attenuating apoptosis and astrogliosis in peri-infarct cortex
This study investigates the potential of DHM, given postreperfusion in middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAo) model of stroke in rats.METHODS: MCAo surgery was performed in male Wistar rats. Reperfusion was performed after 90 min of ischemia. DHM (50 and 100 mg/kg) was administered 10-15 min and 2 h postreperfusion followed by daily dosing for 2 more days. Neurobehavioral parameters and infarct size (TTC staining) were assessed after 72 h. The effective dose (100 mg/kg) was then used to study reduction in infarct size (measured by MRI) and effect on apoptosis (evaluated by protein expression of Bax, Bcl-2 and cleaved casp...

Troxerutin Abrogates Ischemic/Reperfusion-Induced Brain Injury through Ameliorating Oxidative Stress and Neuronal Inflammation by Inhibiting the Expression of NLRP3 in Sprague Dawley Rats
J Environ Pathol Toxicol Oncol. 2021;40(4):11-19. doi: 10.1615/JEnvironPatholToxicolOncol.2021038860.ABSTRACTCerebral ischemic reperfusion (I/R) infarction is mostly associated with serious brain injury, cognitive damage, and neurological deficits. The oxidative stress mechanisms in the neurological region lead to higher reactive oxygen species production followed by oxidative stress, inflammation of neurons, and death of brain cells. The current work aims to evaluate the effect of troxerutin (TXN) on cerebral injury stimulated by I/R-induced ischemic stroke and examines the mechanistic effect of TXN on neuroinflammation i...

Neuroprotective effects of an < em > in vitro < /em > BBB permeable phenoxythiophene sulfonamide small molecule in glutamate-induced oxidative injury
Exp Ther Med. 2022 Jan;23(1):79. doi: 10.3892/etm.2021.11002. Epub 2021 Nov 25.ABSTRACTReactive oxygen species (ROS) play a central role in oxidative stress-associated neuronal cell death during ischemia. Further investigation into the inhibition of excessive ROS generation post-stroke is urgently required for the treatment of ischemic stroke. In the present study, the neuroprotective properties of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) penetrant B355227 were investigated. B355227 is a chemical analogue of B355252, and the role of the phenoxythiophene sulfonamide compound B355227 was further investigated in a glutamate-induced oxid...
