In conclusions, stroke survivors have an approximately 2-fold increased risk of developing acquired hypothyroidism, pituitary dysfunction, or disorders of the adrenal glands. Stroke risk in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy patients with atrial fibrillation: a nationwide database study.
This study aimed to determine the incidence of stroke and its risk factors in HCM patients with AF during a long-term follow-up. Using a national database, we retrospectively investigated 18,724 HCM patients from a systematic sample of 1,000,000 Taiwanese people between 1997 and 2013. The incidences of AF and stroke were estimated. Data were analyzed using Cox regression models. Determinants of Health-Related Quality of Life in Taiwanese Middle-aged Women Stroke Survivors.
CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: We found that female stroke survivors' level of stroke severity and negative appraisal-impact of stroke are significant predictors of the stroke survivor's quality of life. In addition to assisting women in their PF rehabilitation, rehabilitation nurses also should help to develop survivors' self-care confidence as a means to avoid the recurrence of stroke. Women With Osteoarthritis Are at Increased Risk of Ischemic Stroke: A Population-Based Cohort Study.

Cross-Validation of the Factorial Validity of the Stroke Impact Scale 3.0 in Patients With Stroke
CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: Neither the eight- nor the four-domain structure of the Stroke Impact Scale 3.0 was supported, suggesting that scores may not provide valid assessments of HRQOL in clients with stroke. Further modification and validation of the Stroke Impact Scale 3.0 are warranted.WHAT THIS ARTICLE ADDS: Our findings suggest that the eight- and four-domain scores of the Stroke Impact Scale 3.0 may not be valid.
