Using bibliotherapy to rebuild identity for people with aphasia: A book club experience
CONCLUSION: The themes align positively with outcomes associated with the bibliotherapy process. Themes also integrate into a self-management model that promotes self-efficacy through education, support, awareness, problem solving and goal setting. Caveats included determining participant readiness to examine recovery issues and facilitator preparation. Aphasia book clubs surrounding psychosocial texts may help PwA reconstruct a positive post-stroke identity.PMID:37517172 | DOI:10.1016/j.jcomdis.2023.106363

E-186 Assessing congruency of first pass effect on outcomes in mechanical thrombectomy for large vessel occlusions via unsupervised machine learning
This study was approved by the local institutional review board (IRB). Clustered outcomes to formulate clusters included the number of passes, the final reperfusion obtained, the discharge NIHSS, and complications. FPE was defined as TICI 2C or 3 reperfusions on the first pass. Uniform manifold approximations and projections (UMAP) and K-means unsupervised clustering were done to identify outcome clusters. Logistic regression with and without interaction coefficients was used to determine associated factors with cluster membership or FPE. P-values less than 0.05 were considered significant.Results287 consecutive patients w...

E-236 Automated pre- and post-operative volumes estimates risk of retreatment in chronic subdural hematoma: a retrospective, multi-center study
Conclusions/RelevanceLarger pre- and post-operative cSDH volumes increase the risk of cSDH retreatment. Volume thresholds may allow identification of patients at high risk of cSDH retreatment who would benefit from adjunct treatments. Machine learning algorithm can quickly provide accurate estimates of pre and post operative volumes.Disclosures J. P-008 Probabilistic ensemble learning for prediction of stroke thrombectomy outcomes from the neurovascular quality initiative-quality outcomes database (NVQI-QOD) registry
ConclusionsThis study demonstrates the utility of probabilistic ensemble learning in clinical decision-making and prognosis. It can provide robust predictions as well as quantify data uncertainty. Our results regarding NIHSS changes reinforce the substantial benefits of MT, that can improve outcomes in nearly half of patients. The degree of disability relevant to the 90-day follow-up mRS can be determined by probabilistic learning available as early as discharge.Disclosures C. Zhou: None. S. Faruqui: None. A. Patel: None. Sensors, Vol. 23, Pages 6793: Performance Evaluation for Clinical Stroke Rehabilitation via an Automatic Mobile Gait Trainer
Fu-Cheng Wang This paper investigates the clinical efficacy of an automatic mobile trainer for gait training in stroke patients. Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) is a rehabilitation method for stroke patients that enhances motor learning through repeated practice. Despite the proven effectiveness of therapist-assisted NDT, it is labor-intensive and demands health resources. Therefore, we developed automatic trainers based on NDT principles to perform gait training. This paper modifies the mobile trainer’s intervention patterns to improve the subject’s longitudinal gait symmetry, lateral p...

A randomized controlled trial of Changes in resting-state functional connectivity associated with short-term motor learning of chopstick use with the non-dominant hand
CONCLUSION]: Offline enhancement of RSFC in these networks was shown to contribute to early chopstick-use motor learning with the left hand. These results serve as a basis for future studies on compensatory networks in individuals with stroke.PMID:37506851 | DOI:10.1016/j.bbr.2023.114599
