Rational clinical approach to transient ischaemic attack, stroke and associated mimics: A retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: The present study demonstrated that specific clinical features and risk factors were associated with the final diagnosis at TIA clinic. These clinical features may assist with diagnosis of TIA in centres without access to a vascular neurologist.PMID:37190670 | DOI:10.1111/1742-6723.14238

Po-02-140 central retinal artery occlusion: a systematic review and meta-analysis for the risk of new-onset atrial fibrillation and stroke
Central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) is a devastating event and atrial fibrillation (AF) is a recognized cause that may not be present at the time of the event.

Central retinal artery occlusion: a retrospective study of disease presentation, treatment, and outcomes
CONCLUSIONS: The majority of patients with CRAO presented to eye care providers, and few present within the potential window for thrombolysis of 4.5 hours, highlighting the need for public awareness strategies. Our cohort highlights the significant rate of systemic comorbidity that exists in these patients.PMID:35307340 | DOI:10.1016/j.jcjo.2022.02.015

Clinical risk factors for retinal artery occlusions: a nationwide case-control study
CONCLUSION: The investigated risk factors suggest that atherosclerosis and conditions changing the intraocular pressure are involved in the pathophysiology of RAO.PMID:35305540 | DOI:10.1007/s10792-022-02247-z

Current Guidelines on Management of Amaurosis Fugax and Transient Ischemic Attacks
Transient ischemic attack (TIA) is defined as a transient episode of neurological dysfunction resulting from focal brain, spinal cord, or retinal ischemia, without associated infarction. Consequently, a TIA encompasses amaurosis fugax (AF) that is a term used to denote momentary visual loss from transient retinal ischemia. In this review, we use the word TIA to refer to both cerebral TIAs (occurring in the brain) and AF (occurring in the retina). We summarize the key components of a comprehensive evaluation and management of patients presenting with cerebral and retinal TIA. All TIAs should be treated as medical emergen...

Causal associations between circulating adipokines and cardiovascular disease: A Mendelian randomization study
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings reveal the causal association between resistin and AF, probably acting through blood pressure, and suggest potential causal associations between chemerin and CAD, RBP4 and HF.PMID:35134201 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgac048
