Plaque Echolucency and Stroke Risk in Asymptomatic Carotid Stenosis: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— The presence of ultrasound-determined carotid plaque echolucency provides predictive information in asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis beyond luminal stenosis. However, the magnitude of the increased risk is not sufficient on its own to iden tify patients likely to benefit from surgical revascularization.

Vitreous Hemorrhage as a Complication of IV-tPA Therapy in a Patient with Acute Stroke (P4.227)
CONCLUSIONS: To our knowledge, this is the first case report of vitreous hemorrhage following acute stroke therapy with IV-tPA. This underscores the risk of intraocular hemorrhage in patients with retinal neovascularization that could occur with other retinal vascular disorders such as diabetic retinopathy. The decision to proceed with IV-tPA in the presence of retinal neovascularization should be made on a case-by-case basis and further discussion with the patient.Disclosure: Dr. Shah has nothing to disclose. Spasticity-induced Pectoralis minor syndrome: a case-report.
Conclusion: It should be kept in mind that spasticity in the upper extremity may develop in the pectoralis minor muscle, and may cause pressure on the neurovascular structures. Ultrasound and magnetic resonance findings and correlation in hemiplegic patients with shoulder pain.
Conclusion: Although US is recommended as the first method in determining shoulder pathologies in hemiplegic patients, we suggest that MRI should be used as the first choice in hemiplegic patients with shoulder pain. MRI and US findings were not consistent, and US is dependent on the experience of the operator. MRI should be the first choice in cases where the diagnosis will affect the treatment choice due to the lack of correlation between US and MRI findings. PMID: 24722039 [PubMed - in process]

Effects of Kinesio taping for stroke patients with hemiplegic shoulder pain: A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study.
CONCLUSION: Stroke patients with hemiplegic shoulder pain can experience greater reductions in Shoulder Pain and Disability Index, pain, and improvement in shoulder flexion, external, and internal rotation after 3 weeks of Kinesio taping intervention compared with sham Kinesio taping. Ischemic stroke in a patient with Parry-Romberg syndrome (P4.064)
Conclusions:The only other reported patient with PRS and stroke was also found to have a PFO. It is possible that the elevated ANA seen in this patient correlates with propensity towards small venous clots not seen on ultrasound. This may lead to paradoxical emboli and ischemic strokes. It is important to note this potential association between PRS and ischemic stroke in young patients without other known risk factors. The long-term effects of hyaluronic acid on hemiplegic shoulder pain and injury in stroke patients: A randomized controlled study
Conclusion: Subacromial HA injections might provide longer HSP reduction and decrease in hyperemia reactions at the long head of biceps tendon and subscapularis tendon in stroke patients with HSP and tendon injury.

Ultrasonographic and clinical study of post-stroke painful hemiplegic shoulder
Conclusion Ultrasonography is an essential method in evaluation of post-stroke PHS. However, the U/S grades were not correlated with the stages of motor recovery. Avoiding overuse of the unaffected shoulder will be helpful for prevention of shoulder injuries following hemiplegic stroke.

Acute ischemic stroke what is hidden behind?
We present a case of a 58-year-old male patient that presented to ED with sudden onset of headache and left-sided hemiparesis, computed tomography (CT) demonstrated an ischemic stroke of the right middle cerebral artery. When the question of whether to start r-TPA or mechanical thrombectomy was discussed, a cardiac point-of-care ultrasound was performed in ED and showed a type A aortic dissection; immediately a CT aortic angiogram was performed and confirmed the diagnosis. Trigger Point Injection as a Rare Cause of Ischemic Stroke: A Case Report
