Common genetic variants on chromosome 9p21 confers risk of ischemic stroke: A large-scale genetic association study
The objective of this experiment was to observe the allele frequency and genotype distribution of some 9p21 SNPs in the Anhui Han population, and to study its relationship with the susceptibility to ischemic stroke. For this purpose, a collection of 992 patients with ischemic stroke confirmed and hospitalized in our hospital from October 2017 to October 2020 were used as the IS case group, and 951 normal people who had a healthy physical examination in the physical examination center of our hospital during the same period were selected as the control group. After informed consent, cubital venous blood of all subjects was c...

Identification of Risk Factors for Stroke in China: A Meta-Analysis of Prospective Cohort Studies
This study aimed to identify independent risk factors for first occurrence of stroke in Chinese individuals based on prospective cohort studies. Forty prospective cohort studies assessing 1,984,552 individuals were selected for the final meta-analysis. The identified risk factors for stroke in the Chinese population included old age (RR = 1.86, 95%CI: 1.47–2.36), hypertension (RR = 2.76, 95%CI: 2.26–3.37), cardiovascular disease history (RR = 1.98, 95%CI: 1.06–3.69), chronic kidney disease (RR = 1.65, 95%CI: 1.36–2.01), diabetes mellitus (RR = 1.71, 95%CI: 1.34–2.18), metabolic syndrome (RR = 1.59, 95%CI: 1.33–...

Development of a Nomogram for Predicting Asymptomatic Coronary Artery Disease in Patients with Ischemic Stroke
CONCLUSION: The nomogram, composed of age, sex, NIHSS score on admission, hypertension history, fast glucose level, HDL cholesterol level, LDL cholesterol level, and presence of ≥50% cervicocephalic artery stenosis, can be used for prediction of ≥50% asymptomatic coronary artery disease (CAD). Further studies are needed to validate the effectiveness of this nomogram in other populations.PMID:35570518 | DOI:10.2174/1574887117666220513104303

Renal safety evaluation of aspirin plus edaravone in patients with ischaemic stroke: a retrospective cohort study
Conclusions Our study indicated that edaravone in patients with ischaemic stroke didn’t increase the nephrotoxicity of aspirin, and even had a protective effect on mild renal deterioration. Nevertheless, there is a need to be cautious when patients are in bad pathophysiological conditions and at high risk of bleeding.

Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D deficiency predicts poor outcome among acute ischemic stroke patients without hypertension
Publication date: Available online 3 May 2018 Source:Neurochemistry International Author(s): Bingjun Zhang, Yuge Wang, Yi Zhong, Siyuan Liao, Zhengqi Lu 25-Hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) deficiency is a frequent condition in patients who suffer acute ischemic stroke (AIS), and several studies suggested that it may be associated with a poorer prognosis. Whether this association is affected by hypertension is unclear. Our aim was to investigate the association between 25(OH)D levels and both clinical severity and outcome after 3 months in AIS patients stratified by the history of hypertension. Consecutive first-ever AIS patient...

Clinical risk factors associated with recurrence of ischemic stroke within two years: A cohort study
To identify the clinical risk factors and investigate the efficacy of a classification model based on the identified factors for predicting 2-year recurrence after ischemic stroke. From June 2017 to January 2019, 358 patients with first-ever ischemic stroke were enrolled and followed up in Shenzhen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. Demographic and clinical characteristics were recorded by trained medical staff. The outcome was defined as recurrence within 2 years. A multivariate logistic regression model with risk factors and their interaction effects was established and evaluated. The mean (standard deviation) age ...
