Periodontal disease and risk of all cancers among male never smokers: an updated analysis of the Health Professionals Follow-up Study
Conclusions Advanced periodontitis was associated with a 2.5-fold increase in smoking-related cancers among never smokers. Periodontitis may impact cancer risk through system immune dysregulation. Further studies need to examine the immune impact of advanced periodontitis on cancer, especially for cancers known to be caused by smoking.

Radiation-induced carotid artery lesions
ConclusionsRadiation-induced atherosclerosis is a  different and accelerated form of atherosclerosis, which implies a more aggressive disease with a different biologic behavior. The disease is characterized by a high rate of carotid artery stenosis compared to those observed in nonirradiated control group patients. To prevent the risk of stroke , surveillance and imaging with ultrasonography should enable detection of severe stenosis. Endovascular treatment with a carotid angioplasty and stenting has been proposed as an attractive and minimally invasive alternative for some radiation-induced stenoses.

CONCLUSION: Postoperative dysphagia risk increases in ACDF compared to ALDF, likely due to underlying anatomy. Postoperative dysphagia symptoms are not effectively documented by spine surgeons and as a result underevaluated by dysphagia specialists. The effect of voice training interventions on patients with oropharyngeal dysphagia: a systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: In general, statistically significant positive therapy effects were found. Voice training improves the oral and pharyngeal stages of swallowing in patients with neurological causes of dysphagia, such as stroke, and in patients with non-neurological causes of dysphagia, such as head and neck cancer.
