Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: In randomized trials, direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) were non-inferior to the vitamin-K-antagonist (VKA) warfarin in preventing stroke/embolism in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). DOAC are substrates for P-glycoprotein (P-gp), CYP3A4 and CYP2C9. The activity of these enzymes is modulated by several drugs which might induce pharmacokinetic drug-drug interactions (DDI). Utilization of triple antithrombotic therapy in patients with atrial fibrillation undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention
ConclusionsThe utilization of TAT following PCI among high-stroke risk AF patients steadily increased from 2011 to 2020, reaching 65.4% by the end of the study period. However, in 2020, a significant proportion of 29.4% of patients still received DAPT, indicating that many AF patients undergoing PCI did not receive adequate antithrombotic therapy.

Safety and effectiveness of rivaroxaban for prevention of stroke in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation: analysis of routine clinical data from four countries
CONCLUSIONS: Incidences of intracranial bleeding were generally lower with rivaroxaban than with SOC, whereas incidences of gastrointestinal and urogenital bleeding were generally higher. The efficacy and safety of direct oral anticoagulants versus vitamin K antagonists in patients with left-sided bioprosthetic heart valves and atrial fibrillation: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionOur meta-analysis demonstrated that in patients with AF and BHV, compared with VKAs, using DOACs was associated with reduced stroke and major bleeding events without an increase of all-cause mortality and any bleeding. In the population younger than 75 years old, DOAC might be more effective in preventing cardiogenic stroke.

Long-term comparative effectiveness and safety of dabigatran, rivaroxaban, apixaban and edoxaban in patients with atrial fibrillation: A nationwide cohort study
Conclusion: NOACs had better long-term risk-benefit profiles than VKAs. While effectiveness was comparable, apixaban was overall associated with a more favorable safety profile followed by dabigatran.

Correlation between Vitamin D, homocysteine and brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels in patients with ischemic stroke
CONCLUSIONS: Vitamin D supplementation was used as a therapeutic agent in patients with acute ischemic stroke that affects homocysteine and BDNF levels.
