How To Avoid China ’ s Medicine Monopoly
I want to share a shocking statistic with you… Around 80% of all the pharmaceuticals sold in America — both prescription and over-the-counter — are manufactured in China. I’m talking about drugs for Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, blood pressure and blood thinners, diuretics, aspirin, antibiotics, and a big chunk of the world’s insulin and diabetes drugs — just to name a few.1 We don’t even make penicillin anymore. The last penicillin plant in the U.S. closed its doors in 2004. Americans who rely on medicine are now almost entirely at the mercy of a country whose relations with the U.S. have become more ...

Attenuating lipid metabolism in atherosclerosis: The potential role of Anti-oxidative effects on low-density lipoprotein of herbal medicines
Front Pharmacol. 2023 Mar 31;14:1161657. doi: 10.3389/fphar.2023.1161657. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTAtherosclerosis (AS) is a multifactorial chronic disease with great harm to the health of human being, which is a basic pathogenesis of many cardiovascular diseases and ultimately threatens human life. Abnormal blood lipid level is one of the most common diagnostic indicators of AS in clinic, and lipid metabolism disorder is often observed in patients with AS. Cholesterol is an important lipid in the human body, which is of great significance for maintaining normal life activities. Generally, cholesterol is transported to per...

The efficacy and safety of Chinese herbal medicine as an add-on therapy for type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with carotid atherosclerosis: An updated meta-analysis of 27 randomized controlled trials
Conclusion: Based on this meta-analysis, we found that in the treatment of T2DM patients with CAS, combined with CHM may have more advantages than WM alone, which can further reduce CIMT and carotid plaque Crouse score, regulate glucose and lipid metabolism, improve insulin resistance and enhance islet β-cell function. Meanwhile, CHM is relatively safe. However, limited by the quality and heterogeneity of included studies, the efficacy and safety of CHM remain uncertain. More high-quality studies are still needed to provide more reliable evidence for the clinical application of CHM. Systematic Review Registration: https:/...

Guanmaitong Granule Attenuates Atherosclerosis by Inhibiting Inflammatory Immune Response in ApoE < sup > -/- < /sup > Mice Fed High-Fat Diet
CONCLUSION: Radix notoginseng, Radix salviae liguliobae, and Radix astragali are the main ingredients of GMTG for treating AS. Further, GMTG could regulate the level of serum lipids and inhibit inflammatory immune response, which resulted in anti-AS effects such as plaque stabilization, reduction of plaque burden, and plaque remodeling. GMTG is a promising multi-target treatment for AS.PMID:36148321 | PMC:PMC9489104 | DOI:10.2147/DDDT.S372143

Arctium lappa leaves based on network pharmacology and experimental validation attenuate atherosclerosis by targeting the AMPK-mediated PPARG/LXR α pathway
In conclusion, A. lappa leaves attenuated AS-induced cholesterol accumulation by targeting the AMPK-mediated PPARG/LXRα pathway and promoting cholesterol efflux.PMID:36076592 | DOI:10.1016/j.biopha.2022.113503

Regulation of DAPK1 by Natural Products: An Important Target in Treatment of Stroke
Neurochem Res. 2022 Jun 8. doi: 10.1007/s11064-022-03628-7. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTStroke is a sudden neurological disorder that occurs due to impaired blood flow to an area of the brain. Stroke can be caused by the blockage or rupture of a blood vessel in the brain, called ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke, respectively. Stroke is more common in men than women. Atrial fibrillation, hypertension, kidney disease, high cholesterol and lipids, genetic predisposition, inactivity, poor nutrition, diabetes mellitus, family history and smoking are factors that increase the risk of stroke. Restoring blood flow by repos...
