Neuroprotective Effect of Dexmedetomidine on Cerebral Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury in Rats
CONCLUSION: Dexmedetomidine has a dose-dependent protective effect on cerebral ischemic injury in rats. The neuroprotective effects of dexmedetomidine are achieved, in part, by reducing the oxidative stress response, inhibiting glial overactivation, and inhibiting expression levels of apoptosis-related proteins.PMID:37235497

Evidence that enolase-phosphatase 1 exacerbates early cerebral ischemia injury and blood-brain barrier breakdown by enhancing extracellular matrix destruction and inhibiting the interaction between ADI1 and MT1-MMP
In this study, we systematically provide mechanistic insights into the regulation of ENOPH1 in blood-brain barrier (BBB) dysfuction induced by early ischemia. ENOPH1 knockout mice (ENOPH1 KO) and wild type (WT) mice were exposed to transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO) for 90 min followed by 3 h of reperfusion in vivo, and brain microvascular endothelial cell lines (bEnd.3 cells) were exposed to oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) in vitro. BEnd.3 cells were transfected with ENOPH1 shRNA to knockdown ENOPH1 expression. Brain ischemic damage and nerve function was assessed with 2, 3, 5-triphenyltetrazolium chlorid...

Effectiveness of butylphthalide on cerebral autoregulation in ischemic stroke patients with large artery atherosclerosis (EBCAS study): A randomized, controlled, multicenter trial
J Cereb Blood Flow Metab. 2023 Apr 6:271678X231168507. doi: 10.1177/0271678X231168507. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFinding appropriate drugs to improve cerebral autoregulation (CA) in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is necessary to improve prognosis. We aimed to investigate the effect of butylphthalide on CA in patients with AIS. In this randomized controlled trial, 99 patients were 2:1 randomized to butylphthalide or placebo group. The butylphthalide group received intravenous infusion with a preconfigured butylphthalide-sodium chloride solution for 14 days and an oral butylphthalide capsule for additional 76 ...

Astragaloside IV alleviates stroke-triggered early brain injury by modulating neuroinflammation and ferroptosis via the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway
CONCLUSIONS: Hence, the findings of this research illustrate that AS-IV administration can improve delayed ischemic neurological deficits and decrease neuronal death by modulating nuroinflammation and ferroptosis via the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway.PMID:36995819 | PMC:PMC10041803 | DOI:10.1590/acb380723
