The vulnerability of this population is great, and the emotional trauma of multiple displacements, kidnapping and deaths from intentional violence is great. While some aid is reaching families, much more is needed. Though Iraq is a middle income country, reaching the IDPs in central Iraq will take much more in international assistance than is currently being received. Zimbabwe Needs SLPs in Public Hospitals
Zimbabwe desperately needs speech-language pathologists, according to the Africa Health Network in an article on Voice of America. State-owned hospitals and other public health organizations—especially those in the capital city of Harare—can’t keep SLPs employed. Government officials say this occurred primarily because of low salaries.
“Right now there is not a single speech therapist working in public service in Zimbabwe,” says Michele Angeletti, country representative of Christian Blind Mission.

Higher Incidence of Stroke on the Last Day of the Month in Hungary—a Role for Psychosocial Factors and Financial Insecurity?
The seasonal cumulation of acute ischemic stroke events is a well-known phenomenon. Critical days are determined by both biological and psychosocial factors. We hypothesized that the financial stability of those with a monthly income living in an economically unpredictable environment rises upon the arrival of their salary and decreases in the preceding days, leading to anxiety and existential insecurity, which may increase the incidence of acute ischemic stroke.

Survey of survivors' perspective on return to work after stroke.
CONCLUSION: Although earning an income is a strong motivation to RTW, salary decreases in importance when compared with other psychological benefits. Fatigue was rated as the second highest impairment barrier to RTW and persisted as a relevant impediment over time. Attitudes of co-workers and flexibility in work schedule were viewed as most helpful to the RTW process, whereas work stress was viewed as the greatest impediment to return. ConclusionsPerformance‐based budgets conserve funding, promote compliance, and allow for additional sites at modest additional cost. Costs of large‐scale clinical trials can thus be reduced through effective management without compromising scientific integrity.

Predictive Validity of Severity Grading for Cerebral Steno-Occlusive Arteriopathy in Recurrent Childhood Ischemic Stroke (P02.096)
CONCLUSIONS: The CVS score is a reliable measure of severity of steno-occlusive arteriopathy in childhood stroke, and is associated with stroke recurrence in children with a primary arteriopathic ischemic stroke.
