A rehabilitative approach beyond the acute stroke event: a scoping review about functional recovery perspectives in the chronic hemiplegic patient
ConclusionThe literature analyzed invites us to reflect respect to neurorehabilitation approach to the patient with chronic stroke sequelae often considered to have as its objective the maintenance of the present motor function and contain disability: instead, the review reports how, even in chronicity, the patient always reports margins of statistically and clinically significant improvement. The chronic stroke rehabilitation over 6 months has been proved effective in obtaining recovery in different settings.

Aspiration thrombectomy with the Penumbra System for patients with stroke and late onset to treatment: a subset analysis of the COMPLETE registry
ConclusionFor patients with AIS due to anterior circulation LVO and with late onset to treatment, aspiration thrombectomy with the Penumbra System appears to be safe and effective. Development and validation of a nomogram for the risk prediction of malignant cerebral edema after acute large hemispheric infarction involving the anterior circulation
ConclusionOur nomogram based on LASSO-logistic regression is accurate and useful for the early prediction of MCE after LHI. This model can serve as a precise and practical tool for clinical decision-making in patients with LHI who may require aggressive therapeutic approaches.

Predictors of failure of early neurological improvement in early time window following endovascular thrombectomy: a multi-center study
ConclusionDiabetes mellitus history, pre-stroke mRS, longer last known well-to-puncture time, lack of modified thrombolysis in cerebral infarction = 3, and the number of mechanical thrombectomy passes are the predictors of FENI. Future large-scale studies are required to validate these findings.

Web-based psychoeducational interventions for managing cognitive impairment –a systematic review
ConclusionWeb-based cognitive intervention programs are a new approach to rehabilitation and patient education. The evidence, although scarce, shows that web-based interventions are feasible and support subjective cognitive functioning. However, the literature to date is extremely limited and the quality of the studies is weak. Prediction of stress-related gastrointestinal bleeding in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage using caudate Hounsfield unit value in ASPECT score
ConclusionAmong aSAH patients, lower right caudate HU values indicated a higher risk of developing SRGB. Our findings provide further evidence for the relationship between the gastrointestinal system and the brain.

Elevated white blood cell counts in ischemic stroke patients are associated with increased mortality and new vascular events
ConclusionElevated WBC levels in ischemic stroke patients are linked to a higher risk of new vascular events and mortality. Thus, ischemic stroke patients with elevated WBC without clinical infection need special attention to investigate possible underlying conditions to prevent future vascular events and reduce mortality. The interpretation of our results is limited by the absence of adjustment to premorbid functional status, stroke severity, and stroke treatment.

Case report: Fatal ischemic stroke induced by unruptured traumatic intracranial vertebral artery dissection
Intracranial vertebral artery dissection (IVAD) is rare and potentially fatal due to the risk of secondary subarachnoid hemorrhage once ruptured. Unruptured traumatic IVAD is even rarer and can result in ischemic stroke, yet mostly benign when timely diagnosed. Herein, we present an uncommon case of a patient who underwent a fatal ischemic stroke induced by unruptured traumatic IVAD. The patient was symptomatic soon after being physically assaulted but left untreated until acute deterioration for multiple brain infarctions occurred, secondary to IVAD-induced cerebellar stroke. Personalised simulation of hemodynamics in cerebrovascular disease: lessons learned from a study of diagnostic accuracy
In this study, we performed the first quantitative validation of a simulation-based precision medicine framework to assess cerebral hemodynamics in patients with ICAD against clinical standard perfusion imaging. A systematic review and meta-analysis of health utility values among patients with ischemic stroke
ConclusionThis study indicated that the utility values in IS patients kept increasing from stroke onset and became relatively stabilized at 6 months poststroke. Health utility values decreased significantly as mRS scores increased. These results facilitate economic evaluations in utility retrieval and selection. Further exploration was required regarding the factors that affect the HRQoL of IS patients.
