How to identify fatigue in stroke patients: an investigation of the post-stroke fatigue case definition validity.
Conclusions: The case definition was valid and had a substantial inter-rater agreement. A score ≥ 5 using the Fatigue Severity Scale-7 or a score ≥ 12 using the Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory-20 (General Fatigue subscale) may be used to detect potentially debilitating post-stroke fatigue in stroke survivors.

Augmented exercise pressor response during maximal treadmill exercise is not related to systemic inflammation in stroke survivors.
CONCLUSION: In conclusion, stroke survivors exhibit greater increases in systolic blood pressure during maximal treadmill exercise compared to controls. These responses do not appear to be related to systemic inflammation. Future work should seek to delineate the mechanisms responsible for exaggerated blood pressure responses during exercise in stroke.

Does trunk, arm, or leg control correlate best with overall function in stroke subjects?
Conclusions: The overall functional independence in acute stroke patients is most closely correlated with the levels of impairments of trunk function, followed by upper limb impairments.

Spouses of stroke survivors may be at risk for poor cognitive functioning: a cross-sectional population-based study.
CONCLUSIONS: Spousal caregivers of stroke survivors may be at risk for poor cognitive functioning. More work is needed to identify the processes that may contribute to the diminished cognitive capacity among these adults so that interventions may be developed to reduce caregiver burden and promote cognitive health.

Psychosocial experiences and needs of Australian caregivers of people with stroke: prognosis messages, caregiver resilience, and relationships.
CONCLUSIONS: Particular attention should be paid to how prognosis is conveyed and whether appropriate outpatient services are available. Clinicians should also consider discussing appropriate caregiver coping strategies and the quality of the relationship between the stroke survivor and caregiver.

Risk factors associated with falls in adult patients after stroke living in the community: baseline data from a stroke cohort in Brazil.
Conclusions: Patients with poor TUG performance, longer times since stroke onset, and right-hemisphere injury have particularly high fall rates, and TUG cutoff points for fall prediction vary according to cerebral hemisphere.

Do Commonly Used Functional Outcome Measures Capture Activities that Are Relevant for People with Stroke in India?
In this study, we aimed to evaluate the cultural validity of five frequently used stroke-specific FOMs by comparing their contents with the problems reported by patients with stroke in India.
METHODS: Face-to-face structured interviews were conducted with 152 patients diagnosed with stroke in India. Problems and goals identified by the patients were compared to each item included in the FOMs used in stroke rehabilitation.

Independently ambulant, community-dwelling stroke survivors have reduced cardiorespiratory fitness, mobility and knee strength compared to an age- and gender-matched cohort.
CONCLUSIONS: Despite being independently ambulant and community dwelling, the CRF, walking speed and leg strength of this group were reduced compared to non-stroke comparison participants. These patients may benefit from undertaking targeted exercise programmes.

Caregiver-proxy reliability of the Igbo-culture adapted Maleka Stroke Community Reintegration Measure: a validation study.
CONCLUSION: The I-MSCRIM has acceptable caregiver-proxy reliability among Igbo stroke survivors in South-East Nigeria. This suggests that primary informal caregivers of stroke survivors can reliably estimate the CR of their care recipients when I-MSCRIM is administered to them. This will be useful when a stroke survivor cannot respond to I-MSCRIM.

Investigating cognitive ability and self-reported driving performance of post-stroke adults in a driving simulator.
Conclusion This study suggests that post-stroke drivers may be aware of their deficits and adjust their driving behavior. Furthermore, using self-performance measures alongside a driving simulator and cognitive assessments may provide complementary fitness-to-drive assessments, as well as rehabilitation tools during post-stroke recovery.

Patient reported outcomes of hand function three years after stroke.
CONCLUSION: Patients can perceive limitations on several domains with respect to hand function 2-5 years after stroke. Problems related to the appearance of the hand and satisfaction with hand function can be relevant and should be considered accordingly. Persistent hand problems after stroke are related to a more severe, supratentorial stroke in lower educated patients.

Community mobility after stroke: a systematic review.
Conclusion Survivors of stroke may experience a significant decrease in CM compared to people without neurological injury. Rehabilitation addressing motor function, coordination, independence in activities of daily living, balance and endurance may be important for achieving higher levels of CM. Outcome measures directly addressing CM are needed.

Caring for stroke survivors: experiences of family caregivers in Sri Lanka - a qualitative study.
CONCLUSIONS: The phenomenon of family caregivers providing informal care for stroke survivors was explicated as compassionate care, notwithstanding numerous difficulties. The findings motivate further research and strategies to minimize family caregivers' burden and facilitate the positive aspects of caregiving to promote the health and well-being of both stroke survivors and their families.
