Post-stroke lower urinary system dysfunction and its relation with functional and mental status: a multicenter cross-sectional study.
CONCLUSION: LUTD is a common problem in patients with stroke. LUTD is associated with poorer cognitive and functional status and the quality of life in these patients. We, therefore, suggest that bladder dysfunction should not be overlooked during rehabilitation of stroke patients. PMID: 30570391 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

The biomechanical investigation of the relationship between balance and muscular strength in people with chronic stroke: a pilot cross-sectional study.
CONCLUSIONS: The results indicate that the C&L have a strong relationship with the ability to shift body weight in multiple directions, particularly backward, among people post-stroke. Relationships between gait variability and ambulatory activity post stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: The finding that stride duration variability in a high-distraction environment, with or without an additional cognitive task, is related to ambulatory activity in community-dwelling stroke survivors suggests that assessments incorporating attentional demands of real-world walking may be useful additions to clinical practice. CONCLUSION: Future studies should aim to utilize homogenous outcome measures while exploring variability in dosage and level of upper extremity impairment upon initiation. A short bout of high-intensity exercise alters ipsilesional motor cortical excitability post-stroke.
Conclusions: High-intensity exercise can increase lesioned hemisphere motor cortical excitability in a non-exercised muscle post-stroke. Psychosocial interventions for stroke survivors, carers and survivor-carer dyads: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Conclusion: Psychosocial interventions reduced depressive symptoms in stroke survivors and their carers. There was limited evidence that such interventions reduced anxiety symptoms, or improved quality of life and coping for stroke survivors and carers and no evidence that they improved self-efficacy, carer strain or carer satisfaction. Clinical application of backward walking training to improve walking function, balance, and fall-risk in acute stroke: a case series.
Conclusions: In a diverse patient population early after stroke, individuals successfully participated in an additional BW training program. Despite the patients' acuity and severe impairments in walking, significant gains in balance and walking function were noted.
