CONCLUSION: LGSL promoted focal angiogenesis and attenuated ischemia-induced brain injury, suggesting that LGSL is a potential agent that improves angiogenesis and promotes recovery from ischemic stroke.

Impact of post-stroke disability and disability-perception on health-related quality of life of stroke survivors: the moderating effect of disability-severity.
CONCLUSION: Significant disability exists among stroke survivors and impaired their HRQoL while disability-severity moderating the effect. More stroke survivors have positive attitude towards their disability and impact positively on their physical health.

Intracranial collaterals and arterial wall features in severe symptomatic vertebrobasilar stenosis.
CONCLUSION: Intracranial good collateral of posterior circulation may be associated with lower risk of arterial positive remodeling and culprit plaque diffuse distribution, plaque enhancement in patients with severe sIVBAS.

Population-based stroke surveillance using big data: state-wide epidemiological trends in admissions and mortality in New South Wales, Australia.
DISCUSSION: Improved prevention may have underpinned declining intracerebral haemorrhage rates while survival gains suggest that innovations in care are being successfully translated. Mortality in patients surviving the acute period is unchanged and may be increasing for subarachnoid haemorrhage warranting investment in post-discharge care and secondary prevention.

Factors associated with medication persistence among ischemic stroke patients: a systematic review.
Conclusions: Stroke patients' medication persistence decreases over time, and persistence on antiplatelets, anticoagulants, and statin was poor. Several factors were associated with medication persistence, and these factors should be considered in future secondary preventative strategies.

Evaluation of intracranial and extracranial atherosclerotic lesions in patients with symptomatic coronary artery disease.
Conclusions: The prevalence of ECAD, ICAD and EICAD is high in patients with CAD, and the presence of these conditions is positively correlated with the extent and degree of CAD. Evaluations of ECAD and ICAD should be highly recommended for CAD patients to reduce the future risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Assessment of the manifestations of atrial fibrillation in patients with acute cerebral stroke - a single-center study based on 998 patients.
Discussion: The above data should prompt neurologists, cardiologists and family doctors to try to detect AF as a risk factor for ischemic stroke which worsens patient prognosis, prolongs hospital stay and contributes to increase in mortality, especially when more effective drug treatment is currently possible.

Human urinary kallidinogenase in treating acute ischemic stroke patients: analyses of pooled data from a randomized double-blind placebo-controlled phase IIb and phase III clinical trial.
Conclusion: HUK is safe and provides potential clinical benefits as a treatment for acute ischemic stroke. Further large post-marketing observational studies are needed.

Statin effects on post-stroke epilepsy and mortality - Taiwan population-based study.
Conclusion: Statins have a modest but non-significant effect in preventing post-apoplectic epilepsy in Taiwan. Statins decrease post-stroke mortality only in men. Further studies are needed to depict their exact roles in these issues.

The effect of intravenous ginkgolide on clinical improvement of patients with acute ischemic stroke.
Conclusion: Intravenous ginkgolide may improve the outcome of acute ischemic stroke. Differences in effect between pre-marketing and post-marketing studies may be associated with gender, time of onset to enrollment and severity of stroke.

Flexors activity of affected upper extremity in stroke patients during different standing conditions and their relationships with clinical scales: a cross-sectional study.
