A risk prediction model of post-stroke cognitive impairment based on magnetic resonance spectroscopy imaging
Discussion: A PSCI risk prediction model based on MRS serves to assist clinicians in estimating the risk of cognitive impairment after stroke.PMID:33784942 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2021.1908659

Health-related quality of life after ischemic stroke: impact of sociodemographic and clinical factors
CONCLUSION: Stroke survivors have significantly reduced HR-QoL. Multiple interacting factors are associated with an unfavorable outcome after IS. Early detection of these factors would help to improve the care for IS patients, to reduce disabilities and improve HR-QoL.PMID:33637026 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2021.1893563

The association between White matter microstructure alterations detected by Diffusional kurtosis imaging in Neural circuit and post-stroke depression.
CONCLUSION: Our research indicated that the damage to WM microstructure in the frontal lobe, temporal lobe and the genu of corpus callosum may be related toPSD. DKI explores the microstructural changes of WM in PSD patients and may be an auxiliary diagnostic method for PSD. PMID: 33588692 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Vitality index is a predictor of the improvement in the functional independence measure score in subacute stroke patients with cognitive impairment.
DISCUSSION: The vitality index was significantly associated with FIM improvement in subacute stroke patients with cognitive impairment. PMID: 33497321 [PubMed - in process]

Acute and long-term impairments regarding emotional symptoms and quality of life in patients suffering from transient ischemic attack and stroke.
This study follows the hypothesis that TIA patients might exhibit non-physical symptoms affecting individual QoL. Methods: In a prospective single-center observational study, IS patients (n = 73) were compared with TIA patients (n = 24) regarding their neurological deficit, ES and QoL, whereas the latter were evaluated by the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and the Short Form 36 Heath Survey (SF-36). Assessments were conducted six times within a one-year follow-up period. Results: Overall, anxiety and depression decreased over time, while anxiety decreased more substantially. TIA patients showed similar le...

Association between insulin resistance and aspirin or clopidogrel resistance in Chinese patients with recent ischemic stroke/TIA.
Conclusions: Insulin resistance was an independent predictor for development of antiplatelet drug resistance in patients with recent minor ischemic stroke or TIA. More attention should be paid to recognize these patients and antithrombotic effect should be monitored when antiplatelet drugs were applied to these patients. Application of the P300 potential in cognitive impairment assessments after transient ischemic attack or minor stroke.
Conclusions The P300 latency delay can be used to detect cognitive impairments in patients after TIA/minor stroke and the P300-Fz latency is more sensitive for diagnosing cognitiveimpairments in TIA/minor stroke patients. PMID: 33443462 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Association of inflammatory and platelet volume markers with clinical outcome in patients with anterior circulation ischaemic stroke after endovascular thrombectomy.
Conclusions: MPV, PDW, and MPV/PC are associated with stroke severity. Higher NLR levels upon admission may predict unfavorable functional outcomes in patients with AIS after undergoing EVT.Abbreviations ACA: anterior cerebral artery; AIS: acute ischemic stroke; ASPECTS: alberta stroke program early CT score; BMI: body mass index; DBP: diastolic blood pressure; END: early neurological deterioration; EVT: endovascular thrombectomy; hs-CRP: high-sensitivity C-reactive protein; HT: hemorrhagic transformation; ICA: internal carotid artery; IL-6: interleukin-6; IS: ischemic progression; LAA: Large-Artery Atherosclerosis; MCA: m...
