The effect of hematoma evacuation with decompressive craniectomy on clinical outcomes in patients with parenchymal hematoma type 2 of hemorrhagic transformation after middle cerebral artery infarction
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with PH2 of hemorrhagic transformation after MCA infarction, HE with DC does not change the clinical outcomes or mortality but might increase the reoperation risk.PMID:35430951 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2022.2066784

Lithium upregulates growth-associated protein-43 (GAP-43) and postsynaptic density-95 (PSD-95) in cultured neurons exposed to oxygen-glucose deprivation and improves electrophysiological outcomes in rats subjected to transient focal cerebral ischemia following a long-term recovery period
CONCLUSION: Lithium upregulates BDNF, GAP-43, and PSD-95, which partly accounts for its improvement of neuroplasticity and provision of long-term neuroprotection in the ischemic brain.Abbreviations: BDNF: brain-derived neurotrophic factor; ECM: extracellular matrix; EDTA: ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid; GAP-43: growth-associated protein-43; GSK-3β: glycogen synthase kinase-3β; HBSS: Hank's balanced salt solution; LCBF: local cortical blood perfusion; LDF: laser-Doppler flowmetry; MCAO: middle cerebral artery occlusion; MMP: matrix metalloproteinase; NMDA: N-methyl-D-aspartate; NMDAR: N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor; OCT: ...

Loss of Kir6.1 facilitates peri-infarct depolarizations in focal cerebral ischemia
CONCLUSION: This study shows that loss of Kir6.1, not Kir6.2 facilitates the induction of PIDs in focal cerebral ischemia, indicating that Kir6.1-forming channels in the brain may provide protection against PIDs.PMID:35271426 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2022.2051132

Predictive value of hemoglobin level on early neurological outcomes in acute ischemic stroke
CONCLUSIONS: We concluded that patients with higher baseline Hb level are at significantly higher risk for END, and less likely to reach stable or improving status at the early stage of stroke.PMID:35130819 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2022.2035621

The factors affecting the outcomes of conservative and surgical treatment of chiari i adult patients: a comparative retrospective study
CONCLUSIONS: ASV≤12 µl is a significant predictor for surgical intervention. The presence of heavy sleep apnea or/and functional symptoms, tonsillar herniation >13.4 mm on coronal images, low ASV, long symptom durations, and a syrinx are the independent prognostic factors that affected outcomes negatively.PMID:35109779 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2021.1967681
