Atrial Fibrillation Patterns and Risks of Subsequent Stroke, Heart Failure, or Death in the Community Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology
Conclusions In our community-based AF sample, only 10% had AF without early-term (2-year) recurrence. Compared with individuals without 2-year AF recurrences, the 10-year prognosis was worse for individuals with either sustained or recurrent AF. Our proposed AF classification algorithm may be applicable in longitudinal datas ets.

Peripheral Endothelial Function and Cardiovascular Events in High-Risk Patients Vascular Medicine
Conclusions Advanced endothelial dysfunction significantly correlated with near future cardiovascular events in high-risk patients. This physiological vascular measurement improved risk discrimination when added to the FRS, BNP, and SYNTAXsc. Clinical Trial Registration URL: clinicaltrials.gov (http://www.clinicaltrials.gov). Unique identifier: NCT00737945.

Circulating and Dietary Omega-3 and Omega-6 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and Incidence of CVD in the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis Epidemiology
Conclusions Both dietary and circulating eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid, but not alpha-linolenic acid or n-6 PUFA, were inversely associated with CVD incidence. These findings suggest that increased consumption of n-3 PUFA from seafood may prevent CVD development in a multiethnic population.

Cardiovascular and Mortality Risk of Apparent Resistant Hypertension in Women With Suspected Myocardial Ischemia: A Report From the NHLBI-Sponsored WISE Study Hypertension
Conclusions In this cohort of women with evidence of ischemia, aTRH was associated with a profoundly increased long-term risk of major adverse events, including death, that emerged early during follow-up.

Adherence to Guideline-Recommended Therapy Is Associated With Decreased Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events and Major Adverse Limb Events Among Patients With Peripheral Arterial Disease Heart Failure
Conclusions In patients with claudication or CLI, combination treatment with four guideline-recommended therapies is associated with significant reductions in MACE, MALE, and mortality.

Long-term Cardiovascular Outcomes in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease Undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery for Acute Coronary Syndromes Cardiovascular Surgery
Conclusions Severe, but not moderate, renal dysfunction was independently associated with an increased risk of long-term cardiovascular events and death in patients undergoing CABG for acute coronary syndromes.

A Randomized Pilot Study of Aortic Waveform Guided Therapy in Chronic Heart Failure Heart Failure
Conclusions Maximization of goal-directed medical therapy in heart failure patients may enhance afterload reduction and lead to reverse remodeling, while additional medicine titration based upon aortic pressure data improves exercise capacity in patients with heart failure.

Early Clopidogrel Versus Prasugrel Use Among Contemporary STEMI and NSTEMI Patients in the US: Insights From the National Cardiovascular Data Registry Coronary Heart Disease
Conclusions With prasugrel as an antiplatelet treatment option, contemporary practice shows low uptake of prasugrel and delays in P2Y12 antagonist initiation among NSTEMI patients. We also note concerning evidence of inappropriate use of prasugrel, and inadequate targeting of this more potent therapy to maximize the benefit/risk ratio.

Long-term Cardiovascular Risks Associated With an Elevated Heart Rate: The Framingham Heart Study Epidemiology
Conclusions Individuals with a higher heart rate are at elevated long-term risk for cardiovascular events, in particular, heart failure, and all-cause death. On the other hand, a higher heart rate is associated with a lower risk of future permanent pacemaker implantation.

B-type Natriuretic Peptides for the Prediction of Cardiovascular Events in Patients With Stable Coronary Heart Disease: The Heart and Soul Study Coronary Heart Disease
Conclusions Both BNP and NT-proBNP were significant predictors of MACE in stable coronary heart disease; however, NT-proBNP was superior to BNP for net risk reclassification for MACE.

Incremental Prognostic Significance of the Elevated Levels of Pentraxin 3 in Patients With Heart Failure With Normal Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction Heart Failure
Conclusions High plasma PTX3 levels, but not other inflammatory markers, are correlated with future cardiovascular events in patients with HFNEF. PTX3 may be a useful biomarker for assessment of risk stratification in HFNEF. Clinical Trial Registration URL: http://www.umin.ac.jp; Unique identifier: UMIN000002170.
