Investigation of Pancreatic-beta cells Role in the Biological Process of Ageing
CONCLUSION: Aging accelerates beta cell senescence by generating premature cell senescence, which is mostly mediated by high glucose levels. Despite higher plasma glucose levels, hepatic gluconeogenesis accelerates and adipose tissue lipolysis rises, resulting in an increase in free fatty acid levels in the blood and worsening insulin resistance throughout the body.PMID:37608675 | DOI:10.2174/1871530323666230822095932

Hospital Dental Services to Reduce Hospital-Acquired Pneumonia
AbstractPurpose of ReviewHospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) has a high incidence among health care –associated infections. Oral care is a standard intervention for the prevention of HAP, but few hospitals provide access to dental services for inpatients. In the current review, we examine hospital dental services and determine the effectiveness of hospital teams, including dental professionals, in controlling HAP.Recent FindingsIn-hospital dental services for perioperative patients under ventilator management and patients with acute stroke have been reported to reduce HAP. Dental interventions that achieve control of HAP h...

P134/298 Endovascular therapy delay for acute large vessel occlusions is associated with worse functional outcome and increased mortality - Quantified
ConclusionShorter times to puncture and reperfusion impact mRS and mortality in LVO stroke patients. Adequate hospital protocols and education may lead to faster and more efficient stroke activations leading to a shorter time to MT and reperfusion. Goals of door-to-puncture must be established in order to achieve better outcome.Disclosure of InterestNothing to disclose

P151/175 Direct aspiration with EMBOVAC - first clinical experience and clot composition (results the "PERFECT study)
ConclusionThis is the first clinical evaluation of EMBOVAC. Direct aspiration with EMBOVAC as first line therapy resulted in high rates of reperfusion and favorable clinical outcomes. Clot composition analysis can aid in better understanding of the stroke etiology and means for effective clot removal.Disclosure of InterestAcandis (OJ, CL, JF); Microvention (GM, CC, JF); Stryker (GM, CC, JF); Medtronic (GM, CC, JF); Surge2surgery (BG); MIVI (CC); Phenox (CL, JF); Penumbra (CL, JF); GSK (AS); German Ministry of Science & Education and Economy & Innovation, EU, Hamburgische Investitions-/Förderbank, Philips, B...

Development and validation of a dementia risk score in the UK Biobank and Whitehall II cohorts
Background Current dementia risk scores have had limited success in consistently identifying at-risk individuals across different ages and geographical locations. Objective We aimed to develop and validate a novel dementia risk score for a midlife UK population, using two cohorts: the UK Biobank, and UK Whitehall II study. Methods We divided the UK Biobank cohort into a training (n=176 611, 80%) and test sample (n=44 151, 20%) and used the Whitehall II cohort (n=2934) for external validation. We used the Cox LASSO regression to select the strongest predictors of incident dementia from 28 candidate predictors and then dev...

Nursing Diagnosis Accuracy in Nursing Education: Clinical Decision Support System Compared With Paper-Based Documentation-A Before and After Study
Comput Inform Nurs. 2023 Aug 15. doi: 10.1097/CIN.0000000000001066. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTComputer-based technologies have been widely used in nursing education, although the best educational modality to improve documentation and nursing diagnostic accuracy using electronic health records is still under investigation. It is important to address this gap and seek an effective way to address increased accuracy around nursing diagnoses identification. Nursing diagnoses are judgments that represent a synthesis of data collected by the nurse and used to guide interventions and to achieve desirable patients' outcomes. Th...

Development and Evaluation of a Mobile Application to Prevent Recurrent Stroke by Enhancing Self-management on Health Outcomes for Stroke Survivors
This study aimed to develop a Mobile Application to Prevent Recurrent Stroke to prevent recurrent stroke by enhancing self-management and to evaluate its effects on stroke survivors' health outcomes. The Mobile Application to Prevent Recurrent Stroke was developed based on social cognitive theory and the model in order of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation process. The Mobile Application to Prevent Recurrent Stroke consisted of health management contents such as information about stroke, its associated risk factors, and required skills to conduct self-management with tailored support and counseli...

Shared Decision-Making and Cardiovascular Health: A Scientific Statement From the American Heart Association
Circulation. 2023 Aug 14. doi: 10.1161/CIR.0000000000001162. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTShared decision-making is increasingly embraced in health care and recommended in cardiovascular guidelines. Patient involvement in health care decisions, patient-clinician communication, and models of patient-centered care are critical to improve health outcomes and to promote equity, but formal models and evaluation in cardiovascular care are nascent. Shared decision-making promotes equity by involving clinicians and patients, sharing the best available evidence, and recognizing the needs, values, and experiences of individuals and...
