E-187 Pipeline embolization stent for treatment of giant supraclinoid aneurysms: a case series
ConclusionThe Pipeline embolization device is a novel technique that can be utilized for treatment of giant cerebrovascular aneurysms with emerging evidence of immediate and long-term success. Further patient enrollment and clinical trials will be required to assess its efficacy in comparison to other endovascular and surgical approaches for the treatment of giant aneurysms.Disclosures M. Benefits May Persist After Antihypertensive and Statin Treatment
Patients with hypertension may benefit from antihypertensive treatment with a calcium channel blocker and a lipid-lowering statin years after taking the medications, reported a long-term follow-upstudy in theLancet. Patients who received amlodipine-based antihypertensive treatment had fewer stroke deaths —independent of blood pressure levels—and patients taking lipid-lowering atorvastatin had fewer cardiovascular deaths.

Influence of Prevalent and Incident Atrial Fibrillation on Post-Trial Major Events in ALLHAT.

Hemopericardium under dabigatran for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation
We report a polymorbid 75-year old male under a therapy with dabigatran, valsartan, amlodipine, nicorandil, furosemide, atorvastatin, bisoprolol, metformin, tizanidine, pantoprazole, and tramadol. He suffered from chest pain for 4 months. Coronary angiography showed only ectatic coronary arteries. He started taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. He was hospitalized because of dyspnea starting 10 days before admission, melena, and renal failure. Hemopericardium was diagnosed and pericardiocentesis yielded 2000 ml hemorrhagic fluid. Risks of Adverse Events Following Coprescription of Statins and Calcium Channel Blockers: A Nationwide Population-Based Study
In this study, 5857 patients received coprescription of CYP3A4-metabolized statins and CCBs that inhibit CYP3A4. There were no differences in comorbidity or use of antihypertensive drugs between patients who received CYP3A4-metabolized statins and those who received non-CYP3A4-metabolized statins.
