Health-related quality of life and associated factors among hypertensive patients
CONCLUSIONS: Hypertensives had low HRQOL scores in all domains. Factors affecting their HRQOL should be taken into account when treating these patients.PMID:36027221 | DOI:10.1097/01.hjh.0000837808.51473.2f

Associations between depression and cardiometabolic health: A 27-year longitudinal study.
CONCLUSIONS: A history of depression symptoms by early midlife is associated with an elevated risk for subsequent development of several self-reported health conditions. When isolated, non-somatic depression symptoms are associated with incident self-reported sleep apnea. Depression symptom history may be a predictor or marker of cardiometabolic risk over decades. Hypertension-Mediated Organ Damage and Long-term Cardiovascular Outcomes in Asian Hypertensive Patients without Prior Cardiovascular Disease.
CONCLUSION: HMOD was associated with increased risk of mortality and CV events. Proteinuria was the most powerful independent risk factor for all-cause death, and the degree of proteinuria and mortality rate were proportional. Our data suggest that monitoring of the proteinuria is important to predict long-term CV events in hypertensive patients. PMID: 33316856 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Agent Orange exposure and disease prevalence in Korean Vietnam veterans: The Korean veterans health study.
In conclusion, Agent Orange exposure increased the prevalence of endocrine disorders, especially in the thyroid and pituitary gland; various neurologic diseases; COPD; and liver cirrhosis. Overall, this study suggests that Agent Orange/2,4-D/TCDD exposure several decades earlier may increase morbidity from various diseases, some of which have rarely been explored in previous epidemiologic studies. Double burden: a cross-sectional survey assessing factors associated with underweight and overweight status in danang, vietnam
Conclusions: The double burden of underweight and overweight/obesity observed in Danang is consistent with patterns found for large cities in Vietnam that are undergoing rapid economic growth and urbanization of lifestyle. Factors independently associated with underweight and overweight/obesity status by WHO standard and Asian-specific definitions include urbanization and modifiable lifestyle factors. Further studies are needed to define ethnic specific BMI cut-offs for Vietnam and to explore strategies to reduce the rising prevalence of overweight/obesity.
