Risk of stroke/systemic embolism, major bleeding and associated costs in non-valvular atrial fibrillation patients who initiated apixaban, dabigatran, or rivaroxaban compared with warfarin in the United States Medicare population: updated analysis
CONCLUSIONS: This real-world analysis showed DOACs to be associated with lower risk of stroke/SE and major bleeding, and lower medical costs compared to warfarin. Outcomes Associated with Apixaban Use in End-Stage Kidney Disease Patients with Atrial Fibrillation in the United States.
Conclusions -Among ESKD patients with AF on dialysis, apixaban use may be associated with lower risk of major bleeding compared with warfarin, with a standard 5 mg twice a day dose also associated with reductions in thromboembolic and mortality risk. Comparative Effectiveness and Safety Between Apixaban, Dabigatran, Edoxaban, and Rivaroxaban Among Patients With Atrial Fibrillation : A Multinational Population-Based Cohort Study
CONCLUSION: Among patients with AF, apixaban use was associated with lower risk for GIB and similar rates of ischemic stroke or systemic embolism, ICH, and all-cause mortality compared with dabigatran, edoxaban, and rivaroxaban. Stop Bleeding! Oral  Anticoagulation and Options for Reversal
Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) are widely used medications for stroke prevention in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (AF), and for deep vein thrombosis treatment and prevention. The IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics analyzed outpatient anticoagulant use in the United States between 2009 and 2014 and found that there has been a steady increase in DOAC use following their initial approval in 2010.1 DOACs include the direct thrombin inhibitor dabigatran, and the factor Xa inhibitors rivaroxaban, apixaban, and edoxaban, and recently approved betrixaban.
