Analysis of Influencing Factors of Compliance with Non-Vitamin K Antagonist Oral Anticoagulant in Patients with Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation and Correlation with the Severity of Ischemic Stroke
In this study, a total of 156 patients with NVAF who received NOAC anticoagulation therapy in our hospital from January 2018 to January 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. The results showed that education background, place of residence, number of complications, CHA2DS2-VASc score, and HAS-BLED score were independent influencing factors for NOACS compliance of NVAF patients. Also, the Pearson correlation analysis showed that there was a negative correlation (r = -0.465, P < 0.001) between NOAC compliance and severity of ischemic stroke in patients with NVAF. Therefore, clinical supervision and management of patients wit...

Stroke Burden in Malaysia
Malaysia is located in the heart of South East Asia with two land masses, Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia which are separated by the South China Sea. Stroke or cerebrovascular disease is Malaysia ’s third leading cause of death. There were 47, 911 incident cases, 19,928 deaths, 443,995 prevalent cases, and 512,726 DALYs lost due to stroke in 2019. Successive national health and morbidity surveys from 2006 demonstrated a continuous rise in the prevalence of risk factor such as diabetes, hyp erlipidaemia and obesity. These risk factors are implicated in an increase in stroke incidence in those under 65 years of age, ...

Efficacy and safety of human-derived neural stem cell in patients with ischaemic stroke: study protocol for a randomised controlled trial
Introduction Stroke is the most common cause of neurological disability in adults worldwide. Neural stem cell (NSC) transplantation has shown promising results as a treatment for stroke in animal experiments. The pilot investigation of stem cells in stroke phase 1 and phase 2 trials showed that transplantation of the highest dose (20 million cells) was well tolerated. Preliminary clinical benefits have also been observed. However, the trials were open-label and had a small sample size. Furthermore, human NSCs (hNSCs) were intracerebrally implanted, and some serious adverse events were considered to be related to the surgic...

Incidence and Risk Factors for Dysphagia Following Cerebellar Stroke: a Retrospective Cohort Study
This study aimed to investigate the incidence rate of dysphagia and the factors which may affect the presence of dysphagia and clinical recovery in individuals diagnosed with cerebellar stroke. A retrospective chart audit of 1651 post-stroke patients (1049 males and 602 females) admitted with a cerebellar stroke to a comprehensive tertiary hospital in China was conducted. Data on demographics, medical, along with swallowing function assessment were collected. Differences between dysphagic and non-dysphagic groups were evaluated usingt-tests and Pearson ’s chi-square test. Univariate logistic regression analysis was perfo...

Posttraumatic Growth of Stroke Survivors and Its Correlation With Rumination and Social Support
This study focused on gaining insight into the positive changes of stroke survivors. This study aimed to describe the level of posttraumatic growth (PTG) and explore its correlation with rumination and social support in stroke survivors. The impacts of individual characteristics on PTG were also discussed. Methods: A descriptive correlation design was used in this study. Stroke survivors from a tertiary hospital in Guangzhou City were investigated. The Posttraumatic Growth Inventory, Chinese version of Event Related Rumination Inventory, and Perceived Social Support Scale were used to assess the level of PTG, rumination, a...

Value of plasma homocysteine to predict stroke, cardiovascular diseases, and new-onset hypertension: A retrospective cohort study
The influences of hyperhomocysteinemia on cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), stroke and new-onset hypertension are unclear. The aim of the study is to explore the associations of homocysteine levels with stroke, CVDs, and new-onset hypertension in Chinese individuals. This retrospective cohort study included outpatients and inpatients from the Department of Geriatrics at Ruijin Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine from January to December 2000. They were divided based on their homocysteine (Hcy) levels in 2000: Q1 (15 μmol/L) and according to whether they had hypertension at baseline. Inf...

Earlier Acupuncture Enhancing Long-Term Effects on Motor Dysfunction in Acute Ischemic Stroke: Retrospective Cohort Study.
Abstract Stroke is the leading fatal disease in China. This retrospective study aimed to explore the optimal acupuncture intervention time for long-term efficacy on motor dysfunction in patients suffering from acute ischemic stroke through 1-year of follow-up. Three hundred and nine patients collected at Longhua Hospital from January 2016 to December 2017 were classified into 3 groups based on the acupuncture intervention time, including groups A (within 2 days), B (within 3-7 days) and C (within 8-14 days). All patients had received standard treatment combined with acupuncture therapy. Specifically, acupuncture w...

Study on optimization and evaluation system of traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation program for swallowing disorder after stroke
This article presents a study protocol for a multicenter, randomized, controlled trial for evaluating the efficacy of acupuncture in treating post-stroke dysphagia. Methods/design: A randomized controlled trial will be conducted in three hospitals in Heilongjiang, Changchun, and Beijing. A total of 252 patients with post-stroke swallowing ability will be randomly divided into two groups; specifically, the experimental group, which will receive acupuncture treatment, and the control group, which will undergo rehabilitation training for 2 weeks. The main results will be evaluated using the standard swallowing function...

Common genetic variants on chromosome 9p21 confers risk of ischemic stroke: A large-scale genetic association study
The objective of this experiment was to observe the allele frequency and genotype distribution of some 9p21 SNPs in the Anhui Han population, and to study its relationship with the susceptibility to ischemic stroke. For this purpose, a collection of 992 patients with ischemic stroke confirmed and hospitalized in our hospital from October 2017 to October 2020 were used as the IS case group, and 951 normal people who had a healthy physical examination in the physical examination center of our hospital during the same period were selected as the control group. After informed consent, cubital venous blood of all subjects was c...
