CONCLUSION: Most patients with AF can be managed effectively in primary care. Quality of anticoagulant control and patient experience associated with long-term warfarin in Canadian patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation: A multicentre, prospective study
ConclusionsWe showed excellent overall TTR in an observed Canadian cohort, with monitoring through a dedicated anticoagulant clinic being associated with a statistically and clinically significant improvement in TTR. The burden of warfarin therapy on patients ’ health related quality of life or daily work and activities was low.

Family Physician Prescribing Practices and Perspectives on Shared Decision-Making Regarding the Use of Oral Anticoagulants for Stroke Prevention in Patients 75 Years or Older With Atrial Fibrillation
CONCLUSION: Family physicians strongly consider patient risks and utilize risk-assessment tools when initiating OAC in older adults with AF. Despite all physicians reporting the use of shared decision-making and that their patients were educated on the indications for OAC, confidence in initiating treatment was variable. Impact of Rabeprazole on APO-Dabigatran Exposure in Healthy Volunteers
CONCLUSIONS: When APO-dabigatran is administered with rabeprazole, the exposure to dabigatran is reduced by about 30%, which is similar to the level observed with Pradaxa when it was co-administered with a proton pump inhibitor. Self-reported adherence to direct oral anticoagulants versus warfarin therapy in a specialized thrombosis service —a cross-sectional study of patients in a Canadian Health Region
ConclusionsSelf-reported medication adherence was similar between warfarin and DOACs. Since suboptimal adherence is associated with poor clinical outcomes and increased costs, various stakeholders should emphasize the importance of medication adherence to oral anticoagulants at each patient encounter.

Starting anticoagulation for atrial fibrillation in the emergency department safely
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common morbidity, which is increasing in prevalence.1 AF predisposes patients to stroke while anticoagulation therapy reduces the stroke risk in this population.
