Identification of m.3243A & gt;G mitochondrial DNA mutation in patients with cerebellar ataxia
CONCLUSION: Mitochondrial m.3243A>G mutation accounted for 0.9% (2/232) of genetically-undetermined cerebellar ataxia in the Han Chinese cohort in Taiwan. Hemorrhagic PRES: A Rare Neurological Manifestation of COVID -19 Infection
In this report, we discuss the diagnosis and outcome of a 30-year-old patient detected with Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES) as a complication of COVID-19 infection. Vertebral artery thrombosis in a 7-year-old child
We present the case history of a 7-year-old boy who was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit of a county hospital with symptoms of facial palsy, progrediating ataxia and somnolence. Contrast-enhanced angiographic MR images of the skull revealed acute ischemic lesions and suggested stenosis of the left vertebral artery, then it was confirmed by TOF (time of flight) angiography of vessels of the neck and cervical ultrasound examination. The arterial thrombus causing ischaemia was eliminated by drug treatment and the rehabilitation process could be started. The patient's condition improved considerably following that...

Progressive ataxia and cognitive decline in a 67-year-old male: a diagnostic challenge.
We report the case of a 67-year-old male who presented with a six-week history of progressive unsteadiness, cognitive impairment and weight loss, in the context of a recent bereavement. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) performed several weeks earlier excluded acute stroke. Examination revealed gross bilateral ataxia, bradyphrenia and physical manifestations of depression. Collateral history suggested rapidly progressing symptoms over three months. Miller Fisher syndrome with bilateral vocal cord paralysis: a case report
ConclusionThe occurrence of acute or subacute descending paralysis with involvement of bulbar muscles and respiratory failure can often divert clinicians to a diagnosis of neuromuscular junction disorders (such as botulism or myasthenia gravis), vascular causes like stroke, or electrolyte and metabolic abnormalities. Early identification of Miller Fisher syndrome with appropriate testing is essential to prompt treatment and prevention of further, potentially fatal, deterioration.

Cerebral vasculitis and lateral rectus palsy – two rare central nervous system complications of dengue fever: two case reports and review of the literature
ConclusionsCentral nervous system vasculitis due to dengue infection is a very rare phenomenon, and to the best of our knowledge, only one case of central nervous system vasculitis has been reported to date, in a patient of pediatric age. Cranial nerve palsy related to dengue infection is also rare, and only a few cases of isolated abducens nerve palsy have been reported to date. The two cases described in this report illustrate the rare but important central nervous system manifestations of dengue fever and support the fact that the central nervous system is one of the important systems that can be affected in patients with dengue infection.
