Neurointerventional management in web vessels (P5.279)
Conclusions:Although few cases are reported in the literature, the stroke rate is high in this group of patients. Therefore all patients with this diagnosis must be treated. Endovascular treatment is presented as an effective form of treatment associated to a low morbidity rate and no ischemic event recurrences.Disclosure: Dr. Piske has nothing to disclose. A Case of Transient Global Amnesia: A Review and How It May Shed Further Insight into the Neurobiology of Delusions
Conclusion In closing, our patient’s episode of TGA combined with her emotional and perceptual response lends credence to the proposal of a “fear/paranoia” circuit in the genesis of paranoid delusions—a circuit incorporating amygdala, frontal, and parietal cortices. Here, neutral or irrelevant stimuli, thoughts, and percepts come to engender fear and anxiety, while dysfunction in frontoparietal circuitry engenders inappropriate social predictions and maladaptive inferences about the intentions of others.[54] Hippocampus relays information about contextual information based on past experiences and the current situat...

The alternative complement pathway is longitudinally associated with adverse cardiovascular outcomes. The CODAM study.
Abstract The alternative pathway of complement activation is highly reactive and can be activated spontaneously in the vasculature. Activation may contribute to vascular damage and development of cardiovascular disease (CVD). We aimed to investigate functional components of the alternative pathway in cardiovascular risk. We studied 573 individuals who were followed-up for seven years. At baseline, we measured the enhancer properdin; the rate-limiting protease factor D (FD); and a marker of systemic activation, Bb. Using generalised estimating equations, we investigated their longitudinal associations with cardiova...

P-013 initial experience with the ace and ace64 cerebral reperfusion catheters in the endovascular treatment of acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionIn our initial experience, the ACE/ACE64 reperfusion catheters provide a safe and effective tool for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke using direct aspiration, in which we were able to recanalize (TICI 2B/3) 96.4% of cases, achieving good clinical results.DisclosuresP. Urgent Carotid Surgery and Stenting May Be Safe After Systemic Thrombolysis for Stroke Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Urgent carotid endarterectomy or carotid artery stenting after thrombolysis for stroke may be safe without increased risk of serious complications.

Patching plus extended exposure and tacking of the common carotid cuff may reduce the late incidence of recurrent stenosis after carotid endarterectomy
The objective of this study was to determine whether routine patch angioplasty and precautions related to the common carotid cuff could reduce the risks for perioperative stroke, internal carotid artery (ICA) thrombosis, or recurrent carotid stenosis. Methods: The senior author (N.H.) performed 1959 consecutive isolated CEAs at the Cleveland Clinic from 1976 to 2004. This series can be divided into three distinct eras with respect to patching and management of the proximal common carotid cuff: (1) primary arteriotomy closure with selective patching in only 38 of 653 CEAs (5.8%) from 1976 to 1983 (group 1); (2) routine patch...

Hemodynamic depression in carotid artery stent without angioplasty.
CONCLUSION. The incidence of hemodynamic depression is low when carotid stenting procedure is performed without balloon angioplasty. The incidence of neurological complications post procedure was also low. This report highlights the need for performing randomized trials comparing both techniques.
