Liver Transplant in Hemoglobin SC Disease and Autoimmune Hepatitis: A Case Report
We report a case of a 50-year-old man with sickle cell disease genotype SC (HbSC) and cirrhosis secondary to autoimmune hepatitis who underwent liver transplant. His postoperative course included upper extremity deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolus, stroke via a patent foramen ovale after a line removal, and posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome. Myocardial infarction and factor VIII elevation in a 36-year-old man
We report a 36-year-old man who had a myocardial infarction despite lacking traditional cardiac risk factors. He developed end-stage heart failure and renal insufficiency necessitating a HeartMate II left ventricular assist device (LVAD). While on the transplant list, he experienced two episodes of LVAD thrombosis 6 months apart, prompting device exchange and escalation of anticoagulation therapy. Chronic Rejection and Atherosclerosis in Post-Transplant Cardiovascular Mortality: Two Sides of the Same Coin
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) as defined by the American Heart Association includes ischaemic heart disease, stroke, heart failure and thromboembolism [1]. Solid organ transplantation is associated with an increased risk of CVD morbidity and mortality [2], a relationship which was first observed in the context of kidney transplantation by Foley in 1998 [3]. This manifests clinically as an increased rate of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), defined as the composite of cardiac death, non-fatal myocardial infarction, non-fatal stroke, unstable angina and heart failure [4,5].

Characteristics and Prognosis of Stroke in Living Donor Renal Transplant Recipients
