Ultrasound-Induced Destruction of Nitric Oxide –Loaded Microbubbles in the Treatment of Thrombus and Ischemia–Reperfusion Injury
Conclusion: Based on these data, UTMD affects the vascular endothelium by activating eNOS, and NO exerts a protective effect against IRI.

Plaque Evaluation by Ultrasound and Transcriptomics Reveals BCLAF1 as a Regulator of Smooth Muscle Cell Lipid Transdifferentiation in Atherosclerosis
CONCLUSIONS: Plaque echogenicity correlated with enrichment of distinct molecular pathways and identified BCLAF1, previously not described in atherosclerosis, as the most significant gene. Functionally, BCLAF1 seems necessary for survival and transdifferentiation of SMCs into a macrophage-like phenotype. The role of BCLAF1 in plaque vulnerability should be further evaluated.PMID:35321563 | DOI:10.1161/ATVBAHA.121.317018

A Cohort Study on the Safety and Efficacy of Warfarin and Rivaroxaban in Anticoagulant Therapy in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation Study
CONCLUSION: Compared with warfarin, rivaroxaban anticoagulant therapy has the same advantage in tolerance and prevention of thromboembolism in patients with AF, but rivaroxaban can effectively reduce the risk of bleeding in patients with AF.PMID:35845939 | PMC:PMC9283039 | DOI:10.1155/2022/4611383

Point of care ultrasound detection of thrombus straddling a patent foramen ovale in a patient with acute chest syndrome
We report a case of a young woman with sickle cell disease who was hospitalized for vaso-occlusive crisis and subsequently developed worsening acute chest syndrome and stroke, discovered on point of care ultrasound to have right heart failure and a thrombus straddling a patent foramen oval. POCUS is highly specific for the detection of right heart dilation/dysfunction and should be a routine component of the assessment of acutely decompensating patients.PMID:36017251 | PMC:PMC9396226 | DOI:10.1016/j.rmcr.2022.101724

Ultrasound Criteria for Diagnosing Spontaneous Cervical Artery Dissections
This article describes the diagnostic criteria and typical findings of spontaneous dissection, in which no dissecting membrane is to be expected as in aortic dissection. Traumatic dissections following blunt or penetrating injuries also present with different findings. Examiners should be aware of possible differential diagnoses whose ultrasound image may mimic a dissection. A frequently occurring but avoidable cause of misdiagnosis is idiopathic carotidynia. Ultrasound also enables differentiation between dissection and vasculitis or carotid web and detection of normal variants such as fenestration of the vertebral artery...

HIT-Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia Simulation Case
Discussion: The simulation improved awareness of the symptoms of HIT and contraindications of immediate platelet and/or heparin initiation upon vessel occlusion and thrombocytopenia discovery.Topics: Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia, pain control, resuscitation efforts, coagulation disorders, history taking, undifferentiated patient, arterial occlusion, hematology, emergency medicine simulation.PMID:37465544 | PMC:PMC10332759 | DOI:10.21980/J89Q0M
