Propensity of stroke in standard versus various aortic arch variants: A 200 patients study
Conclusions: Standard aortic arch Type 2, bovine aortic arch Type A, and Type B are associated with an early age at stroke presentation. During routine carotid evaluation by CT or MR angiography in stroke patients, it would be better to evaluate the aortic arch as well, especially in young patients.

HAT Score Outperforms 7 Other Hemorrhagic Transformation Scores in Ischemic Stroke Patients Treated with Thrombolysis (P3.109)
Conclusions: HAT score yielded the highest odds ratio among the 4 scores that accurately predicted sICH in our independent dataset. HAT score also had low computational complexity compared to other scores. Methotrexate induced leucoencephalopathy: A stroke mimic
We describe the case of a 17 year old girl with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, who developed stroke like episodes on two consecutive challenges with a chemotherapeutic regime which included intravenous and intrathecal methotrexate. She had MRI changes consistent with acute ischemic stroke on both occasions. Her deficits recovered completely and spontaneously, as did the MRI changes. She did not have any further episodes when methotrexate was excluded from the chemotherapeutic regime.

Susceptibility weighted magnetic resonance imaging of brain: A multifaceted powerful sequence that adds to understanding of acute stroke
Conclusions: SWI has been previously shown to be sensitive in detecting hemorrhage; however is not routinely used in stroke evaluation. Our study shows that SWI, by virtue of identifying unsuspected hemorrhage, central occluded vessel, and venous congestion is additive in value to the routine MR exam and should be part of a routine MR brain in patients suspected of having an acute infarct.

Nonvitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants in everyday practice: Stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation and treatment of venous thromboembolism
ConclusionsAll four NOACs are equivalent to or better than warfarin for the treatment of VTE and stroke prevention in AF, and may reduce the risk of bleeding complications, particularly intracranial bleeding. Implications for practiceNOACs may benefit some patients by avoiding the numerous food or drug interactions and frequent laboratory monitoring associated with warfarin. Adherence to proper dosing is critical for NOAC efficacy and safety.
