Higher Risk of Incident Hyperthyroidism in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation
CONCLUSIONS: Our results provide insight into clinical risk factors for the development of hyperthyroidism in AF patients, as identified by the novel SAD HEC2 score. AF appears to be a common precursor of hyperthyroidism.PMID:37565329 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgad448

Testosterone replacement therapy in relation with cardiovascular disease in cisgender women and transgender people
CONCLUSION: Use of TTh increased the risk of CVD, CAD and stroke among is cisgender women, but not among transgender people. TTh is becoming more widely accepted in women, and it is the main medical treatment for transgender males. Therefore, use of TTh should be further investigated for the prevention of CVD.PMID:37392459 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgad388

Association of urinary nitrate with diabetes complication and disease-specific mortality among adults with hyperglycemia
CONCLUSIONS: Higher urinary nitrate is associated with lower risk of congestive heart failure and diabetic nephropathy, and lower risk of all-cause, CVD, and diabetes mortalities. These findings indicated that inorganic nitrate supplementation can be considered as a supplementary treatment for people with hyperglycemia.PMID:36576885 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgac741

Cardiovascular outcomes and all-cause mortality in primary aldosteronism after adrenalectomy or mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist treatment: a meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, adrenalectomy could be preferred over MRA for patients with PA in reducing the risk of all-cause mortality and/or MACE and should be considered as the treatment of choice. That patients with PA could get less benefit from adrenalectomy as they age warrants further investigation.PMID:36315466 | DOI:10.1530/EJE-22-0375

The efficacy and safety of novel classes of glucose-lowering drugs for cardiovascular outcomes: a network meta-analysis of randomised clinical trials
Conclusions/interpretationSGLT2i and GLP-1RA are superior to DPP-4i in terms of CV and renal outcomes. GLP-1RA is the only drug class that reduces the risk of stroke. SGLT2i is superior in reducing HHF and renal outcomes. Therefore, the choice between SGLT2i and GLP-1RA should be individualised according to patient profiles.PROSPERO registration number: CRD42020206600.Graphical abstract

Association of T-wave abnormalities with major cardiovascular events in diabetes: the ACCORD trial
Conclusions/interpretationThe presence and magnitude of TWA are associated with increased risk of clinical cardiovascular events and mortality in individuals with diabetes and may have value in refining risk, particularly in those with prevalent CVD.Graphical abstract
