Impact of cardiovascular disease on in-hospital mortality in patients with COVID-19
Conclusion: COVID-19 patients with CVD comorbidites have a higher risk of in-hospital death. Optimal care and good control of CVD are essential in this patient group.

Combined use of the GRACE ACS risk score and comorbidity indices to increase the effectiveness of hospital mortality risk assessment in patients with acute coronary syndrome
CONCLUSION: CCI and its own comorbidity model, but not CDS and CIRS, are associated with the risk of hospital mortality. The model for assessing comorbidity on a 9-point scale, but not CCI, CDS and CIRS, can significantly improve the predictive value of the GRACE scale.PMID:36286937 | DOI:10.26442/00403660.2022.07.201742

Anti-Atherosclerotic Therapies: Milestones, Challenges, and Emerging Innovations
Mol Ther. 2022 Sep 4:S1525-0016(22)00553-6. doi: 10.1016/j.ymthe.2022.08.024. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAtherosclerosis is the main underlying pathology for many cardiovascular diseases (CVD) which are the leading cause of death globally and represent a serious health crisis. Atherosclerosis is a chronic condition that can lead to myocardial infarction, ischemic cardiomyopathy, stroke, and peripheral arterial disease. Elevated plasma lipids, hypertension, and high glucose are the major risk factors for developing atherosclerotic plaques. To date, most pharmacological therapies aim to control these risk factors but do n...

E-023 Predictors of outcomes in tandem anterior circulation occlusions following mechanical thrombectomy
In this study, we present outcomes of patients undergoing tandem mechanical thrombectomy. We demonstrate that stenting is associated with improved final reperfusion, but increased odds of asymptomatic ICH. Additional clinical trials should be performed to optimize the procedure and improve patient outcomes.Disclosures J. Catapano: None. D. Farhadi: None. A. Naik: None. S. Koester: None. E. E-153 Transfemoral flow-reversal using walrus balloon-guide catheter for carotid artery stenting technical description and single-center experience
ConclusionsIn our institution’s experience, this technique was safe, feasible and efficient, with 100% technical success and no periprocedural thromboembolic complications. More extensive studies are needed to establish the role of proximal protection with flow-reversal using modern BGCs.Disclosures J. Cappuzzo: None. A. Monteiro: None. M. Waqas: None. A. Baig: None. D. E-187 Pipeline embolization stent for treatment of giant supraclinoid aneurysms: a case series
ConclusionThe Pipeline embolization device is a novel technique that can be utilized for treatment of giant cerebrovascular aneurysms with emerging evidence of immediate and long-term success. Further patient enrollment and clinical trials will be required to assess its efficacy in comparison to other endovascular and surgical approaches for the treatment of giant aneurysms.Disclosures M. O-052 The pennsylvania post-market multicenter experience with flow re-direction endoluminal device (FRED)
ConclusionThe results of the early post-market experience with the FRED device show reasonable safety and adequate aneurysmal occlusion rates comparable to other flow diverters. However, more extensive multicenter studies with more extended follow-up data are needed to assess the long-term safety and durability of the device.Abstract O-052 Table 1Baseline descriptive statistics Number of patients n=61 Gender Male 11 (18%) Female 50 (82%) Age (Years: median; IQR) 58 (51 – 68) Multiple Intracranial Aneurysms 21 (34.4%) Family history of aneurysms 9 (14.8%) Smoking History Never smokers 26 (42.6%) Past smokers 13 (21.3...

Clinical value of echocardiography in evaluating hemodynamics and right ventricular function in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension after balloon pulmonary angioplasty
CONCLUSIONS: The findings show that a single BPA procedure significantly improves RV volume load and reduces the pulmonary blood pressure in CTEPH patients in the short-term. However, BPA does not improve RV systolic function 24 hours after the procedure. The results indicate that evaluation of RV structural and function with echocardiography is an effective approach for non-invasive monitoring of patient status after BPA.PMID:35693626 | PMC:PMC9186241 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-21-1536
