Effect of Presence versus Absence of Hypertension on Admission Heart Rate-Associated Cardiovascular Risk in Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with ACS undergoing PCI, the association of elevated admission HR with an increased risk of MACE was present in individuals with hypertension but not in those without hypertension. This finding suggests a potential benefit of HR control for ACS patients when they concomitantly have hypertension.PMID:35198240 | PMC:PMC8860566 | DOI:10.1155/2022/3001737

Posterior Circulation Ischaemic Stroke
Am J Med Sci. 2022 Jan 29:S0002-9629(22)00030-1. doi: 10.1016/j.amjms.2021.10.027. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPosterior circulation ischaemic stroke (PCIS) is a disease of high burden. They account for 20-25% of all ischaemic strokes. However, it is relatively under-researched and requires more clinical attention, since it carries worse functional outcomes. Vertigo, visual disturbances and sensory/motor disturbances are found in PCIS. Large artery atherosclerosis and embolism are main causes of PCIS, while there is growing evidence that vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia is a key association. Hypertension is the commonest r...

E-025 Aspiration thrombectomy of acute ischemic stroke patients with intracranial atherosclerotic disease or tandem lesion
ConclusionAspiration thrombectomy was effective in restoring blood flow and resulting in good 90-day functional outcome in AIS patients with anterior circulation tandem lesion, and the 90-day mortality rate in these patients was low. No significant difference in outcomes was detected between patients with a stent and patients without a stent.Disclosures O. Effects of Smoking on Long-Term Clinical Outcomes and Lung Cancer in Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction
CONCLUSIONS: In contrast to the unadjusted model, smoking is associated with worse cardiovascular outcome and higher incidence of lung cancer after adjustment of various confounding factors. This result can be explained by the characteristics of smokers, which were young and had fewer comorbidities.PMID:33821583 | PMC:PMC8022024 | DOI:10.4070/kcj.2020.0430
