Carotid Plaque MRI and Stroke Risk: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— The presence of intraplaque hemorrhage, lipid-rich necrotic core, and thinning/rupture of the fibrous cap on MRI of carotid plaque is associated with increased risk of future stroke or transient ischemic attack in patients with carotid atherosclerotic disease. Dedicated MRI of plaque composition offers stroke risk information beyond measurement of luminal stenosis in carotid atherosclerotic disease.

Thrombolysis for Acute Ischemic Stroke in Patients With Cancer: A Population Study Brief Reports
Conclusions— Thrombolytic therapy for acute stroke in patients with cancer is not associated with increased risk of intracerebral hemorrhage or in-hospital mortality. However, careful consideration of the cancer subtype may help delineate the subset of patients with poor response to thrombolysis. Prospective confirmation is warranted.

Randomized Controlled Trial of Early Rehabilitation After Intracerebral Hemorrhage Stroke: Difference in Outcomes Within 6 Months of Stroke Major Clinical Trial
Conclusions— For the first time, we have shown that commencing rehabilitation within 48 hours of intracerebral hemorrhage improves survival and functional outcomes at 6 months after stroke in hospitalized patients in China. Off-Hours Admission and Acute Stroke Care Quality: A Nationwide Study of Performance Measures and Case-Fatality Clinical Sciences
Conclusion— Patients admitted off-hours received a poorer quality of care. However, the admission time–related differences in care were substantially reduced over time, and the differences in 30 days case-fatality appeared primarily to be explained by differences in stroke severity.

Predictors for total medical costs for acute hemorrhagic stroke patients transferred to the rehabilitation ward at a regional hospital in Taiwan.

Prognostic Significance of Short-Term Blood Pressure Variability in Acute Stroke: Systematic Review Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— This systematic review and meta-analysis suggest that greater systolic BPV, measured early from ischemic stroke or intracerebral hemorrhage onset, is associated with poor longer-term functional outcome. Future prospective studies should investigate how best to measure and define BPV in acute stroke, as well as to determine its prognostic significance.

Conclusions—In addition to its benefits in infarct size reduction, 12/15-LOX inhibition also may independently reduce HT in warfarin-treated mice. ML351 should be further evaluated as stroke treatment in anticoagulated patients suffering a stroke, either alone or in conjunction with tissue-type plasminogen activator.
