An Agathokakological tale of ∆9 -THC: Exploration of Possible Biological Targets.
Abstract ∆ 9 -Tetrahydrocannabinol (∆9 -THC), the active phytocannabinoid in cannabis, is virtually an adjunct to the endogenous endocannabinoid signaling system. By interacting with G-protein-coupled receptors CB1 and CB2, ∆9 -THC affects peripheral and central circulation by lowering sympathetic activity, altering gene expression, cell proliferation, and differentiation, decreasing leukocyte migration, modulating neurotransmitter release thereby modulating cardiovascular functioning, tumorigenesis, immune responses, behavioral and locomotory activities respectively. ∆ 9 -THC is effective in suppressing c...

Status Epilepticus in Patients with SMART (P5.012)
CONCLUSIONS We describe three patients with SMART presenting with SE. Our cases raise the concern that SMART is not necessarily a migraine phenomenon but can be a form of focal SE associated with stroke-like symptoms. In patients with radiographic suspicion of SMART we suggest a low threshold for vEEG monitoring and aggressive anti-epileptic management.Disclosure: Dr. Fan has nothing to disclose. Multiple faces of protein interacting with C kinase 1 (PICK1): structure, function, and diseases
Publication date: Available online 9 March 2016 Source:Neurochemistry International Author(s): Yun-Hong Li, Nan Zhang, Ya-Nan Wang, Ying Shen, Yin Wang Protein interacting with C-kinase 1 (PICK1) has received considerable attention because it is the only protein that contains both PSD-95/DlgA/ZO-1 (PDZ) domain and Bin-Amphiphysin-Rvs (BAR) domain. Through PDZ and BAR domains, PICK1 binds to a large number of membrane proteins and lipid molecules, and is thereby of multiple functions. PICK1 is widely expressed in various tissues, particularly abundant in the brain and testis. In the central nervous system (CNS), PICK...
